I sure hope I will still be able to read the books purchased on Amazon on my iPhone and iPad.

Sounds typical of Apple, which is why I refuse to buy any of their products. It's easy to be "innovative" in a closed system.

As far as I can see, this must be provided "as well" not instead of.

So I don't see the problem, all Amazon has to do is provide an in app option... For double the price.

Most people would do the smart thing I reckon.

In a way I agree with you, there's nothing like the experience from a real book, the feel, the smell, it's almost elemental.

But on my pad that's as small and light as a single book, I have over 400; and 30 films, and...

That's a pretty big plus in my book, if you'll pardon the pun.
