Appetizers too?

I will be traveling with my mother next summer and will be using the DDP for the first time. We've done QS before and so are familiar with the basics but this time we will want TS.

And we're sure to want appetizers too! I've sketched it out on the planner, which shows me that, based on our eating choices, DDP costs ~$24 more than OOP, so DDP it is for sure (I love that feeling of ordering whatever from the menu).

My question is, how will the appetizers be counted? Simply as a dollar amount we need to pay at each TS meal, or will they be deducted as something else (don't really know what I'm asking here -- maybe as snack credits or some other unpleasant surprise)?

I'm only talking about the TS, not the QS, meals. Thanks for any insights!

You'll get a one bill for the items covered by the plan and a second bill for all items over and above those.

Why are you getting the dining plan of it costs more than just paying cash? What happens if you miss a meal or discover that one entree and an appetizer is enough for the two of you?

Apps will be counted as an OOP item. I tend to agree with supersnoop about paying for the DDP. Will you be able to eat apps, entree, and then your own desserts at every TS meal? That's a lot of food. If you're sure that is what you want, you may want to look at the DxDDP which does include apps and gives you 3 TS meals/credits per night.

Thanks you for your answers, and you've also given me food for thought.

We are big eaters when it comes to Disney time, but not big enough for the deluxe plan. We can't eat the 3 meals offered, and we don't want an appetizer at lunch too, just at the TS meal. We've never eaten at these restaurants and will want to sample as much as we can. I consider the $24 over OOP a minor amount to give me the prepaid peace of mind. One final advantage to the plan is Mom can use her band wherever she's eating if we decide to split up for the morning, etc. I know, any charges can be made on the bands, but I'm trying to keep the amounts on the cc low if not nonexistent.

I hadn't considered the possibility of missing a meal or sharing plates. You're right, these might happen and if so, the OOP price quickly becomes the much better deal. Maybe I really should put the amount I'd spend on the plan, onto two gift cards instead and use them at the meals.

Thanks again for the info -- we are so excited over our first grownups-only trip!
