Hi! So we are heading to Disney for a week in June and this will be our fourth trip this year, so we wanted to try something different. We normally get the Disney Dining plan and eat granola bars and fruit in our room then do a quick service lunch and a table service at either a 1 or 2 credit place for dinner. This time we are not going to do the Dining plan. There are some appetizers that I've heard amazing things about as well as desserts. So I was thinking, would a signature restaurant mind if my husband, daughter (2yrs old but eats like an adult) and I wanted to try three different appetizers, a couple desserts, and order drinks...would that be ok? or would it be rude and taking up a table on our part?
Thanks

That's totally fine. You can order as much or as little as you want at TS restaurants. Sounds like fun!

A great idea! And we have done this ourselves at CG. You order what you want. Lots of people not on a dining plan order a few apps and drinks for a meal to share. And then a few desserts to share. Enjoy!

We gave up on the dining plan several years ago as it's just not a good value for my family. We LOVE being able to choose appetizers for our meals if we want and just having the flexibility to eat however we like. Enjoy! :goodvibes

This is precisely why we don't do the dining plan. I usually order two appetizers and a dessert and my DH doesn't order dessert at all. Meanwhile, DS orders appetizers off the kids menu and entrees off the adult menu! You can order whatever you would like!!

We are going to do something similar our November trip. We'll probably do the dining plan but also plan on stopping at a few lounges - right now thinking California Grill and Territory Lounge -- for drinks/apps/desserts.

We order appetizers a lot of the time for different reasons...maybe not that hungry and don't want to eat that much, don't want to spend that much :teeth: or just not finding any of the entrees all that appealing...whatever the reason it's perfectly ok...and as far as the expense part, if you order more than 1 app or an app and a drink it can cost as much as an entree (LOL!).

We also do this during events like Epcot's FGF and F&W, so we can enjoy some of the festival food as well or if the lines are too long then we have that option of eating a regular meal so I always book ADRs and if we don't feel like an entire meal we don't have to. My dd also gets the kids entrees a lot when she's not really hungry.:p Absolutely not rude, you are a paying guest!:-)

We had great experiences doing this for dinners on our last trip, notably at Tiffins and Flying Fish. There were a number of appetizers we wanted to try and liked tasting multiple dishes. Both were awesome experiences.

All we do at California Grill anymore. Love their flatbreads (appetizer) and sushi. We order a few plates and all split.

Thanks everyone!!! Super excited about trying as many new things as possible!

If you enjoy small plates, Tutto Gusto & Capa should be on you list of places to review.

My wife does the double-appetizer thing very often at Signatures.

Good point about Tutto Gusto. We often stop there for drinks/snacks. Very nice during the day and usually not busy (though the beers are overpriced even for Disney).

I also suggest Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar. It is a must do for my DH and I, in fact it is typically the first place we head to when we get to WDW. We like to sit in the little alcove on the side with the sofas and order a few of the "for two" appetizers but they also have yummy sandwiches and pasta. It is a nice relaxing restaurant.

I regularly eat an appetizer for a meal, or an app and a salad/soup for a meal, I just flat don't have a huge appetite and am ACTIVELY turned off by establishments with gluttonous portions. It kinda ruins the experience to have a ton of food plopped onto a plate. You'll have no issue at all. If you're buying drinks, the restaurant is more than happy to have you.

Favorites for these types of meals are Bluezoo, CA, FF, and Spice Road Table, its really easy to get a reservation there and I've been finding myself eating more and more lunches there. I don't have the luxury of planning a vacation half a year in advance, so its lucky I prefer to eat late, or I'd never get any good reservations, and I love those last minute cancellations so I can scoop them up!
