Tell me about the appetizers.

Is it like Outback Steakhouse where everyone at your table shares, or does each person appetizer just big enough for one???

TIA

Melinda

everyone can order an appetizer and they are usually for 1. we like to order different ones and share.

The appetizers at the more expensive restaurants are definitely for one. Spoodles was the only exception - we were so full from appetizers, we barely had time for our meal.

At Coral Reef, for example, my husband ordered shrip app and it was 4 little shrimp. :-)

I think it probably depends on the restaurant and what you order. I think any appetizer with expensive meat/seafood tend to be smaller. We've had some pretty large appetizers though.

The flatbreads at California Grill are definitely shareable (we shared between two of us and still took some home). I think some of the sushi choices and the cheese plate are also large enough to feed more than one person.

At LeCellier GF had the mussels--a pretty big bowl of mussels and she started getting full before the entree even came. I had the tomato stack and that was not quite as shareable or filling.

At Flying Fish I had a huge salad (it was a peach/gorgonzola/pecan salad I think)--just a huge bowl that seemed to go on forever. I had to force myself to stop eating it so I had room for the next course.

It depends. Rarely are they like a blooming onion or a huge plate of cheese fries a la Outback. Sometimes they are more generous. Usually they are more geared towards a single serving. A salad would be more like a side salad size. A soup would be a cup of soup rather than a huge bowl. There are a few exceptions. 50s PT cafe's appetizers were shareable, IMO. The onion rings and the fried cheese were both too much for one if you were also eating a meal, I think. The only appetizer at le Cellier that seemed too generous for one was the mussels. Flatbreads tend to be more "shareable", seafood appetizers would be more single serving, generally speaking.
