If you are on the dining plan, everyone at the table is an adult. Could you order an appetizer as your entree. For example: At the House of Blues, my 10 year old might like to have the Brick Oven Roasted Pizza from the starters menu as her meal. Any opinions if this would be allowed?

Thanks, its hard to find a place that satisfy's all.

Also, have you had luck asking them to hold ingredients off of your menu item? We are dealing with a lot of food allergies. I know we can call ahead and speak to the resteraunt, but I am talking just asking for say No sauce or no carrots.

Honestly I don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised if they wouldn't let you order it since it is so much cheaper.

I was wondering the same thing! We will be going in 2008, and I am a very picky eater. I really hope I can order an appetizer as my meal.

Be prepared to be surprised. It didn't make sense to me, either, but when I was at Coral Reef, someone wanted to order an appetizer in place of an entree and the server wouldn't let her. He said that, for better or worse, the DDP rules are very specific and inflexible-a TS meal must be 1 appetizer, 1 entree, and 1 dessert. I've also seen times when more expensive things were counted as DDP snacks, but cheaper things weren't at the same place.

I wonder if the server was just trying to keep the check high to get the guarnateed gratuity?

I've never used the DDP, so I don't know for sure, but I thought I had read from other people that you are not forced to order an appetizer or dessert, so why would you be forced to order an entree?

However, I would run some numbers before purchasing the DDP to make sure it made $$$ sense if someone would be wanting to order just appetizers and not entrees at restaurants. Doesn't seem like it would be a very good value in that case.

Unless there has been a recent change, House of Blues is not on the dining plan.

I know that doesn't specifically answer your question, but since you listed it as the example, I thought that might be something you would need to know in case you were planning on eating there.

thanks everyone. It is hard to choose resteraunts, stay withing the dining plan and then figure if it is financially worth it. I like the DDP partially just for the pre-paid aspect. It keeps DH from making  this face when we eat sit down.
