we leave in 3 weeks is there any advantage to add App now to our phones ? or just wait till we get on Board ? on Dream June 11-16, 2017 Any hints about anything welcomed . ⛴

I might add the the night before, if you get free wifi. Also, I had an older phone that I put the app on and when the app was updated, it stopped working. It might be good to try it out before hand, if you intend really using it on using it on the ship.

I also would add it before, just so you can immediately start using it on board...and discover ahead of time if it will work on your phone. Just like Alicatt, the app no longer works for me (Android LG phone) with the April 2017 update, luckily I was just using it as a countdown until our cruise next summer...I do hope they get it working on our phones again before we cruise!

You don't necessarily have to do it now, but I would recommend doing it before you board, that way it's all ready to go. You don't want to realize that you're out of space or have problems with it prior to departing. One less thing to do!

Definitely add it before you depart from the cruise, and make sure it's the current version before you board while you still WiFi to upgrade. My partner didn't add the app in advance, and when he did on board, there was a huge kerfuffle with the App Store over his credentials, two-tier security, and a forgotten password. Fortunately, we were still at PC and could get it resolved before sailing, but it took 30 minutes of frustration. At least it downloads quickly enough over AT&T LTE!

Definitely before you leave, as others are saying! I did it a couple weeks before, but for a specific reason. Found out the old phone I planned to use for my 8yo (who doesn't have any ipod or anything) wouldn't install it, so I had time to borrow an old one from my in-laws, clean their stuff off it, and make sure the app worked on it. My mom didn't do it ahead of time, which I learned while we were in the embarkation line for photos, and I figured I could quickly do it b/c it was so fast on ours at home. Uh, no. it took forever!! We were sitting down to lunch by the time that darned thing was done installing. It made me re-boot her phone, etc, but the actually install was super pokey.

As others have said, do it at least a little in advance. Do it while it is still "free" to download the app (either through free WiFi or your phone's data plan). Yes, using the app on board is free, but downloading the app if you have to is not (if you have to download it using DCL's WiFi that will cost you or quickly use up your free 50mb plan and if you remember once you are out of range of cell towers, you don't want to be doing it using Cellular at Sea).

Having it already loaded on your phone allows you to spend any wait time in the terminal setting up the chat feature on the app and perusing the Navigator for activities, and the menus for dining. I'd rather spend my time doing that than getting the app loaded LOL. Have a great cruise!

The real question is "is there any reason NOT to add it now?" I would definitely add it at your convenience and before you leave home. Use your free wifi for the download. Unless you have space issues on your phone, add it. It doesn't work until you get on the ship anyway.

Well only issue is the Free Gigabit thingie says only 1 phone can add it their phone per state room . I'm traveling with Daughter, Grandma ( Me ) & 2 Grandsons . I'd rather she had that . But we can both add the App. On our Cell phones . I have a I-Phone 5 .

Using the Navigator app is free on the ship. You don't need to log into any accounts for it. Once you're on the ship, you all open your apps and you add each other, then you can text using that app. You also can check things like menus and activities on the ship with it.

It had stopped working on my phone with version 1.62 as well. I just checked again today--there's now a version 1.63--so I installed the app yet again and this time it WORKS on my phone! Hopefully it will keep working until our cruise next summer!
