It seems like you can use either App while at DL but is one preferable over the other? I imagine if you started with one that the choices made likely show in the other?

Seems like MagicBand+ isn’t necessary but they are pretty cute - is there any advantage to using one? I am staying at an offsite hotel.

I feel like I’m studying for a big exam and not always sure all the tips and tricks I’m reading about are hitting home. o_O

As far as I know, the Disneyland app is only for the Disneyland Resort. The MyDisneyExperience app is only for WDW.

The advantage to the MagicBand+ is that you can use it instead of your phone (Disneyland app) for park admission (tickets), Lightning Lanes and PhotoPass. The "plus" part is that it lights up and reacts to colors/features in the nighttime shows. You can also use it to play Batuu Bounty Hunters.

Just checked out both apps and put that together, whoops. Feeling seriously like a newb here LOL

Won’t be able to get an MB+ ahead of time but hoping to buy one when I get in the evening prior to Day 1 of 3 days at the parks. Are there DisneyParks stores in LAX that might make for a handy purchase? I’m not sure I’ll have enough energy to go to Downtown Disney to buy one after driving from LAX to Anaheim and be well rested for the following morning…on the other hand, I might be wired. I haven’t gotten a good sense yet for how long it might take to get from across the street from the DL entrance to DD.

If walking at a relaxed pace, give yourself about 5-10 minutes to get from the Harbor entrance to DTD. Bag check might take a few minutes more or less, depending on timing and crowds.

You really don't need a MB+ at Disneyland. The app can literally do all the things you need to do. Magicband usage is very limited at Disneyland compared to WDW.

That said, they sell the Magicbands EVERYWHERE at Disneyland. You will have ample opportunity to buy one on your first day in the parks. They take all of 5 minutes to unpack and set up. You can do it while waiting in a line or just do it quickly after purchase. It's not a long drawn out process.
