App changes locked at T-48 hours?

Our cruise is coming up on Saturday. I just logged in to the app to check for any interesting activities from cancellations. However, “cancel activity” is grayed out for everything. And I don’t have the ability to check for new activities anymore. Is that normal? Do things freeze at 48 hours until you arrive at port?

Don’t most things have only a 24 hour cancellation policy though? How would you cancel things booked for Day 1?

I noticed this on my March cruise, too. I didn't have any issues canceling things that I needed to when I boarded.

What I found most annoying was the inability to use the app to cancel just one participant from my group without canceling all of us.

This is Disney's way of "freezing" everything in time, as Port Adventures have a 3 days before sailing cancellation policy. As for things that are on a 24-hour cancel policy (eg: Spa and other onboard activities), you can do so upon boarding. The app becomes active again once you connect to the ship's WIFI.

OP you probably missed this email. They lock everything a couple days before sailing

Last Chance to Book Activities
Your booking window closes on April 12, 2023. Once it’s closed, you can still make selections when you arrive on board, subject to availability.

Yep, you can't book or change anything 3 days before sailing. As mentioned once onboard the app will start working again to see all the daily activities, etc.

Thanks for all the replies.

How strict are they with making changes on board if it’s something already within 24 hrs when you get onboard (Day 1 or early Day 2)? I had been holding out hope I could switch my Palo brunch on Day 2 10am for a last minute opening on Day 6… Already have Royal Gathering at 11:30 on Day 2 for the kids so I think it might be too rushed. Was debating canceling otherwise but that’s not possible anymore.

Hmm I definitely don’t see that email anywhere. Searched for “Disney” and the last email I have is from 3/22 for checkin finalized. Nothing either for “last chance” or “booking window closes”. Looked in spam too.

I’ve cancelled tastings day of before and not been charged. As long as you don’t no show and you explain to guest services they will usually accommodate you. Swapping out a day 2 palo for a day 6 palo when you get onboard will be fine.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Typically 72 hours prior to sailing everything is locked - can’t book new things and can’t cancel - now that being said you can try to book/cancel on embarkation day.

If you want to modify your Palo reservation, go to wherever it is they will be doing dining changes when you get onboard - they routinely do such things on the first day. If it's other activities, you might need to check at Guest Services. If it's an excursion, there is a possibility that you can cancel or change if they can resell the cancellation. Or if you're looking for an excursion, there might be cancellations waiting for someone to take so that the canceller doesn't get charged.
