You can now enter all the API details required if flying with Virgin on their 'Manage my flights' section of the website. Just done ours for June and it was really easy, should hopefully save time at Heathrow now :teeth:

Claire ;)

Thanks - I've also put mine in.

Do you know if Virgin use these details for online check-in - it would be good if they did

Sorry to sound dumb but what does API stand for??????????????

I was wondering the same thing? :confused3

Advance Passenger Information that now needs to be given to the US authorities before you leave the UK on your flight.

Thanks for that :thumbsup2 Another one of those moments when i'm shouting "Don't talk to me, I'm busy........no you will have to wait for your tea" Out come all the passports (about 30th time of checking whether they are all in date!), address of CSR (in Microsoft Word so i have to open that up) and half an hour spent trying to remember DD birthday :confused3

Anyway all done now........presumably i will have to do all that again when i fill in the green "whatever its called" card on the plane?!

Now I'm worried ... I went into VA's 'manage my flight' to enter the API info for our booking earlier on today, and expected to have to give some details about where we're staying - but I wasn't asked :confused3

Was it because I ticked the 'fly-drive' box?

Hmmm thats interesting as I thought they would be interested in fly-drive people! Perhaps its because you may not yet have accommodation arranged? I am sure they will ask more at checkin, as some people just drive until they find somewhere they want to stop and haven't booked anything. I ticked staying in the US box as although a fly-drive we do have accommodation booked with VH as well just not all the time! Our first 8 nights I have booked myself as they didn't offer the hotels we wanted.

I was about to tick the 'staying in the US box', but then worried that it meant staying, as in not coming back! So I ticked fly-drive, as we've booked flights, car rental and accommodation as separate components. I was hoping that completing all the details online would avoid going through the same process at check-in - hope I haven't mucked it up now!!

Perhaps I should amend it to 'staying'?

Ummmm good point Hilary hadb't thought of that, I thought it meant you weren't in transit! Lol will probably give VA a call about this now you have mentioned it!

Let us know what they say, won't you? :)

Just reread the options and there are only 4 and staying in the US I would assume means staying for a short period of time on holiday, as this is the only one really applicable for a package holiday as well. Will leave it as it is for now.

Claire ;)

I just tried both options. fly-drive and staying in the US and did not get an option to fill out further information.

I think the website is having a few problems...

What did other people do?

Manage your fight, update booking, click Staying in the US, choose Other, then submit.

No more options for me :confused3

Will try again tomorrow as I can check in online for my flight on Monday :teeth:

We used 'staying in the US' as that is the only real choice that applies i feel, i think they mean holidaying in the US rather than your not coming back (i hope) :goodvibes

Can you help me, I went to manage your flight and retreived my details, I also checked the faqs but can't find the section to add you api details.

Paula when you get the front page up with your flight details you need to click edit, then the API part comes up :)
