I am frequent traveler to Florida and have decided that this year I will get an AP for both major parks. I wanted to take advantage of the annual pass holder rates. I'm a new jersey resident so I won't be able to validate my pass prior to day I arrive. Has anyone done this before or am i stuck paying the normal visitor rates til my next visit?

You can book the APH rate w/o the actual pass. When you check in show the receipt.

I am planning doing this too - I am a hoping that between the time I check in and my room actually being ready, I'll have time to get my pass validated, and nthey will be ok with this I'm sure.

Or as other poster above has said, as long as I can show that i have purchsed one, I'm sure they will be OK.

Does anyone know how long the 'validation' process takes - presume it requires having photos taken, and all that stuff?

I remember doing this for Disney, and it took forever, and it caused me to not get into the parks as quickly as I had wanted to do, and I ended up behind all the crowds.

Also where do you go to get your advance pass purchase validated. Is it just done at the park entrance?

Nope no photos. Should be fairly easy and quick. To pick up your Annual Pass please follow the signs at either Universal Studios Florida or Universal's Islands of Adventure to any of the Ticket Booths, during regular theme park operating hours.
* From the website.

How do they prevent people swapping passes around with no photos on passes?

I ordered my pass at Universal's ticket website. And I went to a kiosk (after waiting for a minute or two in the Guest Relations line), swiped the credit card I'd used, pressed a button or two, and out popped my AP, with name and everything! Went to the gate, they scanned it, I put my finger on the thing, and I was through.

EASY.

And when we checked in at PBR about an hour before this, I told the checkin employee that I'd bring the AP in later that evening, and she told me not to bother. That since I told her I would be, that's all she needed. But I assume that if she had answered in a way telling me to bring it back, I would ahve just needed to bring it to the front desk at some point on that day or during our stay, so they could verify it. But that particular employee just didn't seem that concerned about it. Again, EASY!

finger scans

Just like at WDW! :)

(DLR is a different story, as they don't have the finger scan machines)

I am curious, does it save you money on one trip to buy an annual pass? How does this work?

It can save you money depending on how long you stay and how much the room discount is at that time.

If you want to check AP room discounts, use the code APH on the website.

Which AP pass type qualifies for the APH promo code?

This is a sweet deal, we are going to purchase our tickets with points through Chase for $50 each park to park 1 day and then upgrade one to an AP to get the hotel discount. Does anyone see an issue with us being able to do this?

The Preferred (least expensive) and The Premier annual passes both qualify for hotel discounts. The Power Pass does not.

I'm not certain if you can do that with a promotion but I would imagine they may put the price you paid toward the AP upgrade. Really not sure though. Give them a call. :)

Thanks!

I was able to upgrade my chase rewards ticket - full credit last march and plan to again in dec

Thanks! We will be buying 4 of them.

I'm thinking full ticket value for this 1 day park to park ticket is currently 120.00?

I wonder if I can change 3 of them to 1 park per day for 2 days, which I see are currently $135.99 (w/o discount). This would be 47.97 + tax to upgrade 3 of them.

Then I will upgrade one to Preferred AP pass to get a room discount which would cost 139.99+tax.

Hope this will work out for us. Between the aph rate code and the ticket discount this will save us at least 550.00 for a two day stay during Dec. and that is quite a large savings!

I stayed at the Royal Pacific in September for 3 nights using the annual pass rate.I bought the pass on line and printed out the voucher. When I checked in they never asked for the pass or the voucher.
