How much stock do you put in the reviews? It seems only the bad is written or the reviews are kinda outdated.

We found a couple places that sounded and looked great. My husband was going to look at them today but then I read about them at this site and neither one got good reviews,. Now I'm having second thoughts.

People who leave with a good feeling, get their security deposit back and are happy don't go out of their way to find this site. People who are TICKED OFF, do!

I know, I've lived in plenty apartment complexes and only used this site when I was angry.

Check the specifics. If they say there are lots of break ins and cars are being stole... this is a major red flag.

If they complain over and over about the attitude of the office, it may be personal.

Good luck, sometimes you don't find out about a place until you live there.

That's pretty much what I figured. One place the major complaint was too little parking for the amount of residents. That was repeated over and over so I tend to believe that one.
The other one seemed to have bug issues and 2 actually talked about snakes getting into the home which would led me to think of a threshold issue. I don't do snakes!! I would move out if I knew there was a snake in my house. Even though I have a hard time with stairs that's one reason why I'm leary to be on a ground floor apartment.
Noise complaints, well it's apartment living, it's to be expected.

We really liked the place we lived at before but we were looking for something a little bigger this time.

So relate - I been searching online for a potential apartment. My current living situation isn't the best (staying with relatives). Even though I like my relatives, I only have a small room in their house. No real kitchen privileges (so I eat out almosts every day), no parking and no storage (I pay hundreds a month for a storage unit and park my car there). Between food costs and storage, I really need to move on.

Reading apartmentratings.com just freaks me out. Every place seems a dump (well the ones I could afford ) . But if I want to get an apartment somewhere, I just have to take a chance. Though I get the impression that the quality of your neighbors is what really makes or breaks your apartment living experience.

I found the complete opposite situation on this site with the last complex in which I lived. There were only 4 reviews, but they were absolutely glowing. I, on the other hand, had horrible problems with the property manager. I'd never met the woman or even spoken to her in person, but for some reason, she sure didn't like me! My neighbors also had difficulty with her, so I'd like to think it wasn't "me." However, when I went to the site to leave a review, after I'd moved out, I decided not to - I figured anyone reading it would think I was the one with the issues.

the comments about my complex are spot on regarding the problems.

I would believe the ones that are more structural complaints, like can hear everything your neighbor does/ can smell everything cooked or safety concerns.

I wish I would have believed what I had read prior to moving in. I definitely will write up my experience, but after I leave and have my security deposit back.
