Apartment near the parks

I am not sure which forum was best for this question, but since proximity to the parks is crucial, I figured here was as good a place as any.

I am looking at a possible 6-month work assignment in Orlando. My wife and kids will remain in Louisiana, and I will commute home on the weekends.

In terms of short-term corporate housing, I would love to find someplace near the parks, so that in the evenings during the week, it's a quick trip over to WDW to enjoy myself.

A studio apartment is really all I need. Price isn't an object so much as cleanliness, quietness, safety and proximity to the parks.

Does anyone here have any recommendations? Or can you point me to resources other than obvious stuff like Apartments.com?

Thank you.

There are numerous apartment complexes along Apopka-Vineland Road/535 right outside of Disney Springs. I would look in the area right close to Disney Springs and Palm Parkway, and then down under I-4 towards the outlet mall and Little Lake Bryan

Did spend some time looking at apartments in the area with DD.

I highly suggest you look at the http://www.postproperties.com/fl/orlando/windermere/post-lakeside.
They were not far from parks, fairly new, beautiful and right by a little village like shopping area.
Post does do furnished and short term so if this complex does this may be perfect fit for you.

Check here as well http://www.execustay.com/furnished-apartments/orlando/orlando.php
- Camden World Gateway is nice, super close and lots of CMs live there.
- I think Citi Lakes and Pavilion at Lake Eve are both very new and easy shot to Disney, Universal etc.

Also, I would be sure to look around the area to make sure you can familiarize yourself with the basic daily necessities you might need - like a grocery store. Around the parks, the options are few and far between (overpriced Goodings, underwhelming Winn-Dixie). If you head more into the Windermere/Doctor Phillips area, you'll find more things that you would need. Target/Wal-Mart is still a ways away - there's a Target in Kissimmee and a Wal-Mart down on Turkey Lake Road.

And, honestly, I would consider where your work assignment is in relation to your housing. Commuting in Orlando is no joke. I would NOT live out by the parks and have to commute in and out of downtown every day. You're looking at - easily - a 90-minute drive each way.

You might consider looking for a short term rental (vacation rental) as opposed to an apartment. You could find a fully furnished condo or small house that would suit your needs and have the benefits of a property manager. I would think that there are owners who would rent their place for six months and probably provide a competitive rate. It would also be an opportunity for your family to visit you from time to time and enjoy the area. Maybe start with Homeaway and see what is available and then contact a few owners..

I do this every day. It's usually a 45 minute commute.

Nice - my Dad is a big drama queen about his drives. He acts like traveling from Doctor Phillips to downtown is akin to taking a rocket ship to the moon.

Oh man, I would LOVE to have that commute. It's only about 20 minutes on a bad day. But there's no way I could ever afford to live in Dr. Phillips, so I'm stuck in Davenport. :P I can't complain, though, it's a nice area and it's getting built up a lot now. And it's only 20 minutes to Disney. :)
