Can I buy an AP at the park and then in the next transaction buy my multi day tickets and get the 15% discount? Or do I need to enter the park to validate the AP, then go to window to buy the multi day tickets? Would it help to buy AP online to pick up at Kiosk???

You've got to go through the turnstiles to activate it either way. The reason being that your AP doesn't expire until a year after you activate it. So if they let you get your discounts before it is activated, you could actually get discounts for years and years and years before you even use it once.

The AP needs to be activated before you can purchase tickets with the AP discount.

If I bought the AP online and picked it up at the kiosk, can I then enter the park to activate it or do I still have to go to the window for something before I enter the park? I am trying to figure out a way that takes the least amount of time to buy the AP and multi day tickets. Not arriving until 9 pm so can't do it the day before. TIA

In answer to your first question...you can book the AP rate and when you've activated the pass, show it at the front desk of the hotel.

Your second question...yes...you will need to activate first then buy the other tickets. And finally...yes...you can upgrade the other tickets to APs.

Also keep in mind that the prices you see for tickets online (except AP prices) are $10 cheaper! So, the savings is not really has huge as you might think. Its still worth it, but wanted to make sure you knew so you were not shocked when you get to the front gate.

You enter the park after you pick it up. There are no photos or anything like that.

No. You have to go through the turnstiles of the park to activate them.

You can pick up either place but you have to activate the APs at the gates...not the hotel.

Here's how I remember it going down (back in 2005 maybe?):

- I bought the AP online before we went
- printed it at the kiosk at the gate
- presented at turnstiles
- went to Guest Relations to get the actual pass
- went back to kiosks (maybe it was ticket booths?) and bought discounted tix for family

I went this January, stayed offsite. I purchased my AP online the day before we went to Universal.

I went to the ticket window the next morning, picked up my AP and was able to purchase 2 park tickets at the discounted rate, all before using my AP.

On 1/4/11 I paid a total of $140.31 for one adult 3 day/2 park flex ticket for my daughter.

Her boyfriend bought the same, paid with his credit card and was able to get the discount also.

and I am with my other daughter & grandson
