I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to get one AP and add DDE vs just getting two 10 Day Hopper Plus tix that expire. It seems the Hoppers cost about $331, the AP $441 and the DDE another $60, so we'd have to save more than $170 over the course of 10 days. DDE saves 20% on food and drinks, correct? If so, our break even point is $850 in food and beverages. We'll probably drop $300 at the Rose & Crown alone in that time. It looks like this is a good deal to me, am I missing something?

Thanks for any insight offered,

I think your trips to the R&C have NOT impaired both your logic or math skills.

We used the DDE our last June trip and couldn't believe how fast it added up to savings.

Now we are using the PAP's and DDE for a few more trips then just the one but I think the 10 day will be a good break point for the one and DDE.

We never had any problems with the CM's and most of the time just Tipped them the 20% as it was already written right there.

And thats the best thing about the DDE as not with the DDP is it includes the Harder drinks . I don't drink but DsF does and it was nice to not have to worry about splitting bills and so forth.

Have a good trip.

You're missing the hidden cost of the AP---the second trip you'll take this year before it expires! At least that's the case with our family. :rotfl:

But seriously, no, you are correct. If you usually eat at a few nicer TS restaurants, the DDE discount adds up fast.

We didn't save enough with the DDE to justify the cost of the AP. The DDE card more than paid for itself very quickly, though. What really helped was the $600 we saved on our hotel bill!!! If you get and AP and manage to get a room discount, then you come out way ahead of the MYW tickets.

To those who have responded thus far.... Do you know if a 17 yr old can be the holder of the DDE? We are buying our eldest DD an annual pass as we have booked her a trip back to WDW in June for a high school grad present with some close friends.

I don't see the rest of us getting back to WDW in a year because of other family reunion trip plans.

But with respect to the DDP. I have put it on our DVC reservation, but can't put it on our last two nights at BC because I'd have to buy a one day pass for each of us which added a ridiculous $500 to our reservation. I'm already going to have to buy the tickets from WDW instead of another broker because we're getting an odd number of days/nights 9/8. So bottom line is that we only have DDP for 5 of our 7 nights and 6 of our 8 days.

I'm now wondering if we should get the DDE instead....... thus the question about the annual pass.

I'll call on Monday, but if anyone has asked a similar question let me know. I can't find anything about an age limit, but I might not be looking in the right place.

I guess it also makes sense for my DD to have the DDE card for her return trip in June....or we'll add it to the reservation for all of them. Hmmmmmm.....
