We are going to purchase add on SSR 130 pts. and get the 2 AP's.
I am trying to decide whether to go the AP route or 7 day park hoppers for my 3 children.

AP would be $272 (total) more but I think we could squeeze in an extra trip.

We really like to be able to go and come as we please so I am aiming towards the AP.

Are there any discounts available for the AP's online. It seems as though I have to buy them through Disney, but I am not sure.
The price I have got was 343.00 for a child.

On the other side the 7 day park plus has the 4 plus options, which is appealing.

Is the discount for DVC members 10% for WP & DQ?

Thanks for any tips. We are traveling in December this year.

Here is link to very good summary of AP progream. It works for us really well even if all we used were the park admissions. We have gotten the cost per day at the parks to under $10. Then add in the other discounts and it is a super great program for us.

Unless you are a Florida resident or a member of the military, there are no discounts for APs. Only Disney sells them - none of the ticket brokers are authorized to sell them. You will pay the same price no matter where you buy them. If you see a difference, it is due to one not including the 6.5% Fl state tax.

No. I believe it is a straight $4 off for adults. Don't recall the amount for children, but you can find it on the member's website.

Perhaps AAA has a discount for AP's.
They did when I lived in Florida.
Check with your local offices if you're a AAA member.

My opinion: it will work better if all family members have the same kind of pass.

You're talking about making an extra trip. If you end up buying TWO park hoppers for each child, it will cost a lot more than an annual pass.

If you don't make an extra trip, you're "wasting" the AP's. If you don't go to the water parks, you're "wasting" the plusses on the park hoppers.

If AAA gave you an AP discount, it was only because you qualified for the Florida resident passes and you actually got that discount.

AFAIK, AAA never had an AP discount good for the general public. THh now defunct Disney Club had the only discount offered to the general public for AP/PAP tickets.

Best wishes -
