How does the discount you get with an AP compare to the discount you get through AAA?

Can you book an AP rate through AAA?

Can you get the dinning plan with the AP?

I'm trying to decide if we want to get the APs and then we can go back again on them the following year before they expire.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

It depends where you are staying. If at a value, sometimes the AAA is actually better. In the last year, the difference between AAA and AP have often been nominal - like for the GF, maybe you'd get a $75 discount with the AP, and 20% off with AAA. With the new AP policy, I'd do the AAA rate.

An AAA agent should be able to book an AP rate for you, but it will be with the non-refundable deposit. I have an AP, but wouldn't go for the new policy (thankfully I am a FL Resident too).

sorry it took me so long to get back to your response.

Thank you for your response. I will ask my AAA agent which would get me the better deal. Maybe if I get an AP then I will *have to* go back next year!! heheheh

You can't get the dining plan with the ap. It has to be a package deal. You can go through AAA and get a package and still get the AAA discount.

Thank you, I was afraid of that. I think the dinning plan is well worth it and I don't want to miss out on it next year! Thank you!

Sorry guys, I wrote this down but my 'aging brain' has forgotten WHERE. Can you please tell me where I can find the list of restaurants participating in the Magic Your Way dining plan?

Also, can hubby and I share a meal? That is what we have done in the past using vouchers - order one meal and perhaps an extra salad. That is plenty of food for us and saves $$$ besides. Just wondered if they require each adult to order a meal when using the dining plan.

Thanks!

Hi 2ofus....you can get the dining info on the resturants board. They have the links. I just use my Passporter book for that stuff.

AP stands for Annual Pass (like a seasons pass for Busch Gardens.)

With the exception of our October 2005 trip when there were NO AP rates offered, we have always done much better with AP discounts. Of course, the savings depends on when and where you are going. Over Christmas, we could book All Stars for $99/night with AAA or $56/night with BRP. I'm afraid I cannot remember any other prices with AAA.

Hello everyone....new to the boards, but not Disney...16 times.....
For the past 16 times we have flown all but two. This year we are driving (from Indiana) to save money. Also to save money I looked into buying an AP (annual pass) to save my cost on the room (I have never bought room and tickets together) I seem to always save more separate. But this year, it looks like the AAA rate is better by $200.00 than the AP rate.

We are planning for 3/26-3/31 (5 nights) staying at Wilderness Lodge.
AP rate = $1650 (woods view)
AAA rate = $1628 (woods view)

The kicker was the tickets (5 day park hopper).........
AP = $441.98 plus 3 other tickets = $1136
AAA (4 of them) = $937

Doing my math correctly....AAA saves me approx $200
Tomorrow I am calling a AAA agent to see if they can save me money on a package with dinnning...I will let everyone know (if anyone is interested).

Hi~
I've heard of many people on the board getting excellent AAA package rates.

Just an FYI to keep in mind, if you do buy seperately, UnderCoverTourist still has the 2005 prices and it's $230 per ticket (total of $920 for 2). That price includes tax and shipping.
Just a savings of $17 over AAA- but you may make out better with a AAA package.

Good luck!

Ok, everyone, I just got my quote back from AAA and found the person very helpful. Not sure if she wants to be published just yet. So here goes.....

I got a AAA discount on the package with dinning = $2594.87 (WL lodge view)
same package as above $3146.77 (Poly garden view) [both packages are for 5 nights + tickets (hoppers)+dinning].

I showed the boss (wife) and she was very surprised by the rates. She thought these were great rates. Now, if I did all this separate, I believe it would cost me a lot more.

Thought everyone would like to know.....
