Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Ap discount and a AAA discount? Which one is better? TIA! :)

If you can get a AAA rate, they tend to run at about a 15% discount (though I was lucky enough to get a 20% discount at Boardwalk Villas). I was quoted an AP discount rate of about 30% at Boardwalk Inn and I suspect that is fairly representative of the discounts being offered elsewhere. Of course, if you're not already an annual passholder, you also have to figure in the additional cost of the annual pass vs. whatever park tickets you were planning on buying. In my case, the difference between a 7 day park hopper and the annual pass was about $200 and some change.

Personally, I opted for my AAA rate since 1) the AP rate was only going to save me about $29 over the AAA rate and 2) it would have required me to move from the Boardwalk Villas, where we will have a kitchenette area, to the Inn where we wouldn't. But, then again, I already have a pretty sweet AAA rate!

They occasionally release codes for discounts to select resorts for select dates to folks with Disney Visa. But it's nothing you can count on. Still, if you're thinking about a trip, I'd go ahead and get a Disney Visa card. You don't necessarily have to use it. Just having it will get you on the mailing list for any discount codes.

What about the Disney Visa? Does it give you a descent discount?

It also depends on when you go. During regular season, the AAA rate I think is only 10 %. We just switched from AAA to AP rate for our upcoming trip next month. Even with the $200 extra for the pass we are saving money. Plus there are benefits to having the AP -- discounts at some restaurants and stores.

For the deluxe resorts, the discount is more significant. We're staying BC and switching from AAA rate to AP, our rate went down $60 per night -- the difference more than paid for the pass over seven nights. However, the discount at POR was only $15 less than the AAA rate, so in that case it wouldn't have been worth it.
