AP upgrade to PAP

We purchased AP's in February. We are going again in July. The kids would like to go to the water parks. If we upgraded to a PAP, would it cost the same as if we had purchased them in February or do the "pro-rate" the amount to reflect that there will only be about 7 months left on the passes? Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks for any information!

They prorate it and the pass will still expire at the same time. I just did this last week. We had purchased AP's for our short trip in October.
We went this Feb, I upgraded to PAPs for me and my son, since we are going back again in April and we intend to take in the water parks more than once.

You just have to go to one of the Guest Relation windows at a park.

Well, it all depends on the cast member. They aren't supposed to prorate, and some won't do it. The standard procedure is to give you a credit for the remaining value of your original AP and apply that toward the purchase of a brand-new PAP if it has been longer than 7 or so days since you bought the AP.

That said, some CMs are willing to make exceptions, occasionally even without having to ask for them. But you may have to "shop around" a bit.

I have a question, when your AP is up for renewal, can you get a PAP? And, will get the PAP renewal price or do you have to pay the new PAP price?

I have never had any problems getting the renewal pricing when switching from SP to AP or PAP to AP.
