AP Upgrade question

Hi all;

Am starting to plan for my trip at the end of this year and I found a really great deal on just "single" use tickets. I know you can upgrade your parkhopper before you use the last day and disneyland closes but can I use the single use ticket AND my parkhopper to upgrade to an AP?

What I am thinking is I have a single use ticket that was purchased for like $72 and a park hopper that was purchased for for say $214. Can I do this:

single day ticket $72
+Park hopper $214
= TOTAL $286
AP cost is 299-286 = I pay $13 for the AP?

I assume this would not work but figured I would check. Thanks all!

Unfortunately, no. You can only use your one active ticket to upgrade. They will not let you use more than one ticket.

Well, SherryE has been able to use more than one completely UNused ticket to get an AP. But they are not used at all, so this would be done at the beginning of the trip. And then, of course, unless you're staying onsite, you don't get to use the MM on the longer ticket, and you might encounter blockout dates.

Molly, I believe that might be true about an unused ticket. However, there is no advantage to that since the OP still has to pay the balance between what was paid for the ticket and the price of the new AP. Why bother to buy a 1-day ticket and not use it? (unless it's a type of self imposed 'payment plan'.) Also, there is no guarantee that they will allow an upgrade with an activated parkhopper and an unused ticket - it's possible, but not guaranteed.

In my experience they don't allow you to use 2 different tickets to upgrade to an AP to prevent you getting someone else's ticket (who is done with their stay and on the way out) and adding it to your ticket in order to purchase an AP. Also, once you have an AP, the only way to upgrade to the next AP level is with a blockout ticket. They will not allow you to upgrade an AP with a regular admission ticket (for the reason stated above.)

I guess I should have been more clear. These would be unused tickets that I get. Not really a payment plan but they were bought by someone else that would sell them to me cheap and never used. This is not a craigslist or ebay scam but someone that can't make the trip and has like 4 or 5 one day passes that they never used and will not use. They have no value to him and I don't want to not have park hopping privileges so I figured I would trade them in for an AP. I have not bought my parkhopper 4 or 5 day pass and if I bought all 4 of them I might just use the 4 unused tickets for an upgrade if possible.

Anyone know how I can find out for sure?

Yes you can use an activated PH and unused passes to upgrade to an AP. As long as the total value isn't more than the AP you are purchasing.

And as long as one of the passes isn't the "Give a Day" pass. This can not be comibined with another ticket whether it was used or not.
