AP tix, Magic Band Question

We are arriving on Thursday late evening and heading directly to MK to turn on our AP's. Can we then purchase Magic Bands and have the AP's transferred to the Magic Bands? Can we purchase the Magic Bands at Guest Relations or in a gift shop? If we have to purchase them in a gift shop do we then have to head back to Guest Relations to have the AP's transferred to them? We are staying off property which is why we haven't received Magic Bands. Thanks in advance!

You don't have to purchase the bands- they are included for AP holders.

From the Disney web site:
"You will receive a MagicBand if you stay at a Disney Resort hotel or you are a Walt Disney World Passholder."

I would expect so, but I can't be 100% certain as we haven't done APs since before the MBs came on the scene.

After you activate your APs, you'll have to customize your MagicBands via your MDE account. The MBs are then shipped to your home.

You can use your APs to enter the park and the FP lines. You don't need to purchase MagicBands for this trip.

I recently ordered 4 AP's for my family. We are going in June & staying offsite. Wednesday night I will be able to make my fp+ at the 30 day mark. Am I only going to be able to make 1 day selections each night? Like Wednesday night, will I only be able to book that 1st day of our trip, since it will be the only day in the 30 day mark. Then Thursday night I will have to schedule the 2nd night of our trip? Does that make sense? I've been sitting here thinking I would be able to make my 5 days of selections Wed night at midnight, but when I pull up the place where you make the selections, I'm realizing all the dates won't be able to book?

You're correct. Only those staying on site can book 60 days in advance and their entire trip at once.

Being we have AP's and staying offsite, Disney doesn't know how long our trip is so we have to book one day at a time as the 30 day window opens. And AP's can book up to 7 days of FP's in any 30 day window. So if you go on an off site trip for 8 days you'll have to make your last days FP's after you've used day 1's FP's

You have to activate the passes at the park then in MDE it'll pop up for you to customize your AP's and they'll be shipped once their customized. For your first trip since the AP's aren't activated yet, you won't have your magic bands ahead of time.

So you can go to guest services, I prefer DTD and ask if they can provide magic bands then along with your AP discount cards. They should be able to. If not you can purchase any MB's within the park, link it to your MDE and your good to go.

When you customize your bands online they'll be shipped in a box along with your MB AP slider and AP gold discount card

I'm sorry, but this is not correct. You do not get your AP MBs until after the APs are activated. The MB order will show up in MDE after the APs are activated. They can then be personalized and shipped to the guest's home. In most cases, this means for an offsite AP holder who doesn't have a MB via other means (like a prior onsite stay or a prior purchase) won't have a MB on their first trip with their AP. They'll have only the cards to use, which have pretty much the same functionality as the MBs.

OP, if you really want to have a band for your first trip with your AP, then you can purchase one. They'll link the band at purchase to your MDE account, which means they'll be linked to your AP. No need to go to GR or anything like that. Keep in mind, though, that for your AP perks (discounts, parking) you still need to have the physical AP card, so even if you buy a MB, you're going to need to carry the AP card no matter what.

No purchase is necessary is because the bands are shipped once the pass is activated. The pass isn't activated until your at the park. So therefore for the very first trip, you won't have your AP magic bands. One can politely inquire about getting free bands at guest service but it's not likely. They'll tell you your free bands will be shipped once customized in MDE. So therefore leaving your options of using your plastic rfid card they'll give you or buying a band in the park.

No matter your option, your free AP bands are still shipped out along with AP slider and gold discount card

Does anyone know how MBs work with the Premier AP? We are DL passholders and will be at WDW long enough and making multiple trips to warrant the premier pass. We will be upgrading our passes about 60 days before our trip, so will we get MBs for the passes, since they will be activated when we use them at DL? Or no?

I was answering @cheekybulldog who will have activated her AP at DLand. All she has to do is set up her MDE and customize her MBs and she will receive them before she visits WDW. And, they should also take their actual APs with them.

Okay- that's correct. Seems a shame guests can't at least be given the generic grey bands when they activate APs on-site.

You don't need a MB, fwiw. You'll have to have the card with you always for discounts etc, as is stated later. The card will work for FP+ and admission.

The AP will be linked to your MDE account and any future MBs you get will be linked to your MDE, and therefore any MB you get will have access to the AP. There is no transferring of the AP from card to band. All simply access MDE and the tickets/APs on the account.

No purchase necessary to get the ap band, but you cannot get the ap band at the parks. It is ONLY sent by mail and that ONLY happens after the first use of the ap in the parks.

To get a MB for the first ap trip she has to stay onsite or buy some band at the parks or DTD. It won't be the ap band.

Of course they should, philosophically. But they can't and they don't. Only people staying onsite and living in the US (and Canada? Or not?) get MBs beforehand. Ap holders do not get them before their first trip nor do they get them during their trip.

Eta: saw your reply. Aha. The premieres seem to have so many issue is still shy away from saying anything absolute about them lol.
