I'm thinking about getting an AP next year for one or possible two trips to WDW. My question is regarding AP rates on resorts. Are AP rates always offered, or is it possible there would be no AP rates for the time I am going? Also, are AP rates given on all resorts and all catagories of rooms? For example, if I want to stay at CR Tower could it be possible they would only offer AP rates on Garden or Concierge, or only at certain other resorts? These answers will help me decide whether or not to buy an AP.

They are not guaranteed to be available for all resorts, all room types or all dates. They look at where they have empty rooms and then offer it. In your example, it would be possible that the tower rooms are filled or close to filled for your dates so they don't offer discounts but may offer them for garden. Or it could be the other way around. Usually the only dates that they are not offered at all are around major holidays such as Easter & Christmas. You don't have to have the AP in your hands to make a reservation, so you could see if there are discounts and then buy the AP after, as long as you have it at check-in.

Thanks for the quick response It makes sense now. I guess I'll just wait until the rates come out for my time period, then buy the AP.
