So I was just curious as to how closely they look at the picture on the AP to confirm it is actually THAT person entering the park. I have heard some stories about how family members have used their sisters/brothers AP before... Is this possible? Besides the fact from it being completely wrong...

No one in my family has an AP... nor do any of my friends so don't flame me because you think I'm going to do this. :) I couldn't even if I wanted to!

Has anyone ever tried this? Or have you ever cheated the system? It's time to fess up... We all love a good story....

The CM's always look at our pics and then look at us when we use them. What's funny is that I don't even look like myself in the picture either. I look like a bobblehead. :rotfl2:

I have heard that at the gate, someone was stopped and asked for ID. When the ID didn't match the AP, the person was escorted to the side. I found out later that the real AP holder was banned. I wouldn't try this trick lightly.

This was not anyone in my family, but still a cautionary tale. Is a possible ban worth it to the person lending out the AP?

They don't need to check the pick on your AP because it pops up on the screen when they scan it. I went though the line first and turned around to wait for DH, when they scanned his PAP, I saw his pic pop up. The pic is bigger than a 5x7, but it didn't look as big as an 8x10.

I wouldn't chance it at all. I couldn't imagine anyone ever "getting away" with it. I'd just buy a ticket or dont' go. Who'd chance getting banned from DL!

Plus they usually say something to you that includes using your name...like "welcome Linda"..."have a great day Linda" and look you in the eye. I think they are trained to tell if you are nervous or not. And if they suspect you are not the AP holder, they look closer. I wouldn't try it. Just my opinion.

Something interesting happened to my DS and I last month when we were entering the park with our AP's. The CM at the gate hesitated letting my DS, age 11 through the turnstile because she said the pic on his AP looked like me instead. I said that he WOULD look like me because he is my son (LOL). She said, "No, the pic looks like it IS you" and was acting like we were trying to get away with something by the other things she said and how she said them. ( It wasn't as if she just thought we had made a mistake and had inadvertently handed her the wrong AP, etc. ) It was all pretty funny to think about because my son and I are 40 years apart.....I am 51 and he is a very young looking 11 !!!....not very close in age for confusion IMO !:) I still laugh when I think about it.

Here is what the CMs at the gate see when they scan your AP card...

I was stopped a couple of months ago at the gate as well. She said my picture on my AP looked too young to be me nevermind that my birthdate came up as well. I even took out my driver's license to show it was me and she thought it still looked fake. She didn't want to let me in but she was more than happy to let my kids and DH in. DH said a few things and she reluctantly let me in the gate but told me I had to change my picture. So we went to get the picture changed and the CM asked me why I was sent there. I told him and his supervisor and they said that I looked "exactly" like the photo. Apparently they said the gate where I entered came up so they called over there and told the CMs supervisor about the whole ordeal. I didn't even complain about it but apparently they said they had issues with several CMs sending people over that didn't need to.

In my experience, the older CMs check pretty carefully to make sure its you, while the younger CMs seem like they don't really care, and just blindly scan the passes.

I wonder if that is the same CM who thought my son's photo was a picture of me....:)

WOnder why they dont use the finger scanners like they do at WDW? Or did they upgrade?

They have finger scanners? As in finger prints? WOW.

They scan your fingerprints for biometrics - they measure the distance between certain lines on your FP and come up with a numerical value - this is how they cn tell if it is you. They do not do a regilar fingerprint or save finger prints. We find it an efficient system and think it is a good thing - keeps more people honest I guess.

Actually they didnt have anything to do with your finger prints. You used your index and middle fingers. There was like a post that you put your fingers on making a peace sign (sort of) and it measured your fingers. Now this was back in 2001/2002 when i had an WDW annual pass. I dont know if they still use that system.

I don't think the disney world finger scan was real. My son and daughter traded tickets one day and didn't have a problem. My daughter had a cast on her right hand one year and had to use her left hand, it still worked.

Hmmm, interesting. I never could figure out that one.

I got asked to show my driver's license once when I was re-entering California Adventure. At the time I was the only person in my family with an AP, and the pictures on those things aren't exactly clear, so I guess the CM got suspicious.

I know someone who tried to let someone else use her AP--she's still got 4+ months left before she can come into the park again--they banned her for a year. What's worse is that she's a former CM who really should have known better. Don't even think about it.

Do the AP have their own line? If not is the scanning faster than at WDW?

Sometimes our passes don't scan, or the fingers are wrong, etc. For regular passes I hate not knowing how many days are left.
