AP Room reservations- call or book online?

Last year when I had an AP, it was always better to call and book your AP room reservation in order to have that great 6 day cancellation policy where you would get your money refunded if you cancelled over 6 days out with no penalties. Last year, I believe, if you booked your AP room online, you would of had to follow the 45 day cancellation policy, where you would have to pay penalities if you cancelled within 45 days out, just like the regular WDW packages.

I do not have access to AP info since I let my pass expire, but thought I read on the DIS months ago, that Disney changed the AP booking policy so that online bookings carry the same leniant cancellation policy as phoned in AP bookings where you can get all your money refunded if you cancelled more than 6 days out.

Question #1.
Does anyone know if the policy for booking an AP room online has changed or is it still better to call in your AP room ressie as opposed to booking online to get the nice 6 day out cancellation for a full refund. I hope I am making sense! ;)

Question #2.
If you book a room only ressie online without an AP pass (rack rate), is the policy the strict one with the penalties or the leniant one with a full refund more than 6 days out?

Thanks, tink

I'm curious about that as well. (Don't you hate replies like this when you think someone has answered your question, but instead it's just somebody saying "me too, me too!" ;))

Actually though I can answer your second question. Rack rate room only reservations online have the 6 day cancellation policy. So the question remains, how about booking AP rates online? :)

We booked an AP room online in April for mid-May and our confirmation showed the 6 day cancellation.

However, the only reason we booked online is because when we called, no availability showed up on the phone for AP rates for the values, but when we played around on the website, availability at Sports showed up just fine.

Thank you for the replies. I am very happy that Disney changed the non-AP rack rate room only online bookings to the 6 day policy. That is a giant step in the right direction. :)

After searching the DIS, I have found posts from last spring where some folks booked AP rates online and it showed 6 days out cancellation policy, but when they tried to cancel, they were told it was the 45 day policy. And you know what happens then... they had to defend their case and speak to a supervisor and try to tell them they received a notice with 6 day out cancellation policy. And everyone wishes Disney would get it straight on their web site. Now hopefully, the online AP bookings carry the same 6 day policy and Disney will stand by that without folks having the hassle of fighting their case if they need to cancel.

So maybe others will reply with their AP online booking/cancellation stories so we might see if Disney is holding true to the 6 day policy.

Thanks, tink
