AP room - can I add DDP later?

I know you can add DDP to AP room reservations now - but can you add it later on, like 6 days prior to arrival? It seems like in the past you couldn't turn a r/o into a package without making a completely new reservation, but I thought maybe they'd fixed that... Any ideas?

It's not really a fix.
The dining plans are a part of a WDTC package.
A room only reservation is not WDTC. Hence, a guest with a room only res would be cancelling that in order to book a WDTC package.
There are some AP ticketless packages available now. DDP can be added on to a package 3 days/72 hours prior to check in. (Modifying a package res.)

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, it's the new AP package system that's throwing me off. If I put it in as a r/o, it just asks for a deposit of the 1st night's room rate. But if I add dining, it turns it into a package and asks for the $200 down and gives a date (next week!) for payment in full. There's no option to add tickets since it's an AP rate, so I can't see any way to make it into a package now in order to leave the door open for DDP later.

It sounds like if I want to add DDP, I'll have to cancel and re-book later - and hope for availability! I really wish they would fix that!

You still shouldn't have to pay the balance until 45 days out. We just changed our MYW package to room & dining plan and bought the APs for all of us. We had to pay the AP in full, but the new package was still $200 deposit (which we'd already paid) and the balance due at 45 days out.

Not sure if that helps or not, and this is our first time with AP's, so that's about all I know.

That's right! But it's for July, so the full payment was due like next week! I was hoping that I could book the room, and then be able to call in mid-June and add dining, and pay for the remaining room amount and ddp then. That would give me more time! :)

You can add dining until 3 days before you leave. But as soon as you do it becomes a package and needs to be paid in full at that point. We are going in July and we booked our room with the AP code and will add dining in a couple of weeks and at that time we will have to have it paid in full because it is after the 45 days out. So we paid the one night and then will pay the difference as soon as we add dining. Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

You could do that, and I don't blame you.
The downside is converting from a room only res to a package could pose an issue if the room/resort you currently have is not available with the package that fits your needs. Depends on how flexible you are, when you are traveling, etc. There may not be an issue at all. But again, could be.
To get the DDP, the res does have to be a WDTC package, unless you are staying using DVC points.

Oops, sorry! It doesn't seem possible that you'd be 45 days out for a July trip already, but time does fly by!
