AP Renewal--What to Do?? HELP PLEASE!!

We come to an end on July 19th of our first year with an AP!!(going to WDW 7/10-19 to get one last trip in)! Anyway my question is: we got a letter to renew our Ap's at appproximately a $40 saving each(x3 AP's), if we renew, do we get a voucher we can activate on our Dec. 04 trip or do we get a pass with 7/19/03 as beginning date? We would have to send in present AP, and we need that for our trip!! Help Please!!

I'm not sure what you would get -- I don't think you have to send it your AP, but it definitely would start July 19. That' why we never renew -- don't want to pay for dormant Disney passes. I would skip the $40 and get a pass that starts in December

You will get a voucher if you renew by mail or phone. You will get the actual pass if you renew while at WDW. Either way, your renewed AP begins the day after your old one expires no matter when you exchange the renewal voucher. So if you renew now, you next pass will expire on 7/19/05 even if you exchange the voucher in December.

We usually space our trips just under a year apart to get two trips out of each AP. We never renew because there would be several months that the pass would be paid for, but not used. Last year we went in Oct & activated our new AP vouchers. This year, we are going in Sept, and will use our old APs. If we choose to go again Oct 2005, it would not pay to renew because the passes would expire in Oct 2005. Buying new passes Oct 2005 would give us the opportunity to use them in Sept 2006. Therefore, the 40. renewal "savings" is no savings for us.

Everyone is correct that your new pass would start with the end date of your old one. So when you go in December your new pass would be 6 months old. We never renew because of this policy. This was not always the policy, it only changed several years ago. Obviously you won't be renewing like the rest of us. The savings does not exist unless you are going immediately after renewing.
