My Preferred AP expires late next month. A mailer just came with a special renewal rate of $109. I seem to remember that the standard renewal rate is $119, so it is only a savings of $10. But a year of Preferred US for only $109 is a deal any way you look at it.

Oddly enough, the deal is not available online. It says on the card that you either have to "Use the attached form, call 1-866-PASS-4-FUN or visit any front gate window". It does not say if you have to have the card when renewing at the gate. Sounds like the safe bet is to call.

This is one important aspect of a US AP most people overlook. The renewal is so much cheaper than the first year. Keep that in mind when you are looking at the price initially. It certainly beats the meager discount WDW gives for their AP renewal (though they do have that extra 3 months deal right now):)

Cool I will look out for that mailer

Do you know if one currently has a preffered pass and wants to renew up to the premier pass can it be done at the premier pass renewal rate (whatever that is)

My guess would be yes, but the safe bet is to call that toll free number to find out for sure. Let us know what you find out if you call.

Thanks for sharing! Our AP's renew in October. And hey, $10 is $10...it'll buy me 2 beers to sit and enjoy on one of the Margaritaville adirondacks. :)

Up until 2007 the renewal rate was $99,last year it was the same as this year $109.This is why I would never let my Universal pass expire, the low renewal rate.I always renew mine over the phone, but searching through their website I saw that they have a new option to renew it online now,I tried to do it but for some reason it wasn't working so I just picked up the phone instead.

I got my first AP two years ago, but it was a "buy one year, get one free" offer, so this is my first renewal. It will be interesting to see what changes is price or options US makes when Harry Potter opens. I for one will glad to see some of the Disney Only crowd finally see what US has to offer (I have APs to both).

I've had my Preferred AP since like 1999 or 2000 which I also got with a buy one year get one year free,if I recall it was Burger King doing the promotion back then and the price was $165 for the year,so two years for $165 was great. The renewals every year until 2007 were $99 so to only go up $10 in all those years is a great thing on Universal's part.

PAP renewal is around $106 through AAA

I am an AAA member and sure enough on the site is that price. It even says the regular price of renewal is $109. Learn something new every day. Thanks. Of course, you have to be an AAA member to get that price.

I renewed our AP in July, no special rate, but it was the same as what had been posted here by others who had renewed earlier in the year,
$109 + tax

That's the standard renewal cost...it's $117.43 with tax included.

I called and renewed our preferred APs over the phone about 2 weeks ago (afraid the price might go up). It was $109 + tax to renew. When I called I asked if the renewal was good for 12 months or 15 months (I read about it here on the boards). The rep paused and said, it depends what type of pass you are renewing. I told him it was the 2 year preferred pass (bogo) and he said, yes that is good for 15 months . So don't forget to ask because they are not going to offer it, but we got the 15 months for $109. So instead of my pass expiring October 2010, it is good until January 2011.

OK the 15 months offer everyone is talking about is for Disney renewals, not Universal. But if Universal is doing something with their passes to match Disney then I would like to know as it's the first time I've heard of this.

When I was in Publix, I saw a rack with cards you could buy, 2 years for the price of one, but I think you have to be a Florida resident to use them:confused3:confused3:confused3

No, Universal has done the 15 month renewal long before Disney thought of it. I just read a thread here recently where someone got the renewal offer for Universal for 15 months instead of 12 months, so I asked them when I renewed a couple of weeks ago and the agent told me, yes they still offer the renewal for 15 months depending on what type of AP you were renewing. I had the BOGO preferred pass and he said yes, that was good for 15 months and I renewed. I've since looked up my account on the AP website and instead of now expiring on October 2010, it says it expires January 2011. (BTW -- I also took advantage of the 15 month renewal for Disney too -- but I renew every year with them, so the promotion didn't change whether I renewed or not.)

You are absolutely right but I think Doom was saying Universal hasn't publicized the 15 month renewal like Disney has...and Doom is correct. I have received NOTHING from Universal in either email or regular mail letting me know this is going on nor have I heard a single commercial advertising it either. But...that's typical.

I understand. I'm glad I read it on the boards recently which encouraged me to ask about the 15 month renewal. I guess you never know unless you ask. I figured they could only tell me no, but luckily they told me yes.

I am not sure where you saw this but I am a Fl resident and they did not have this offer in March of this year to my knowledge. I also have never seen Universal AP's on racks at Publix either.. I could be wrong on that one
