AP Renewal Question

We have had AP's for the past several years. Our Ap's expire 5/12 and I received the notice for renewal. I'm already booked to go back to WDW from 10/20 to 10/27 through AAA code.

My question is this... if I renew my AP's in May will they be active right away? Or do we have to use them before they activate (like the voucher?)

I'm thinking it may be better to skip the renewal and pay for the full price AP in October that way I know I'm guaranteed at least another trip on them.

Anybody know?

Unless things have changed, a renewal continues your passholder, so: I'm thinking it may be better to skip the renewal and pay for the full price AP in October that way I know I'm guaranteed at least another trip on them. ::yes:: Have a blast!

You have 30 days from the expiration to renew, but the new expiration date will date back to a year from the old expiration date not from the day you use it or turn in your voucher. So if you aren't going until later in the year it would probly be better that you don't renew and just buy new AP's.

We have AP's for the first time this year. Do you get a discount for renewing your passes early?

Not for renewing early but you do get a discount for renewing your pass instead of letting it expire.

However, as others have pointed out, it may not be worth it for you. Unless you are going to use the pass right away, you may wish to just pay the extra so you aren't wasting time on your pass.

Around 2000 they changed the rules. Before then, when you renewed you got a voucher in the mail and turned it in on your next trip. It was then activated with the date you turned it in being the start date, NOT the day your last one expired as it works now.

Unfortunately, they did away with that. This year I won't be renewing - my pass expires in October yet I won't be back until late January, so it's worth it for me to wait and just get a fresh AP.

Hope this helps!

Thanks that helps allot. We will probably go ahead and renew and take the discount. We have been going at least once a month since we got our passes. It helps when you don't live that far away from the parks. :cheer2:

Thanks again for your help.
