Last year, I renewed my AP on a blocked day (a Saturday), and was allowed to go into the parks. I know that the policy has changed, and there are no more blockout tickets. So does this policy change mean I won't be able to go in on a Saturday this year if that's the day I choose to renew on? Or do you still get to go in on the day of renewal, even if you are blocked?

I was told no at the booth when I asked about upgrading a hopper on a day that was blocked. The different policy may be because they no longer print you a new AP with an expiration date on the back. You now keep the Same AP when you renew.

That was a good question. I wonder how they handle buying an annual pass which as a blockout day. They used to give you a blockout ticket, but now you may have to buy a regular ticket, then upgrade to pass later in the day?
Also when you upgraded your AP to a higher value, you also used to get a blockout ticket. No more?

I can't buy a regular ticket and upgrade, as they don't sell my pass type anymore (the regular So Cal pass). Otherwise, that's exactly what I would do...buy a ticket, then upgrade.

You will still be allowed into the parks if you renew in person on a blockout day.

Nothing has changed. They will still issue a blockout exception ticket if you purchase or if first day of use of an AP is on a blockout day.

The only thing that has changed is APs no longer can purchase blockout tickets.

Thanks, Ryan. Did you have a recent experience with this situation? Just curious since you are saying the opposite of what everyone else has stated :-)

Had a friend do it last week

and:

Q:Hey guys. I have a question I'm hoping someone will know the answer to. Say I'm blocked out on a day. If I renew my pass ON that day, will I be allowed entry? Or am I still blocked out?

A: Disneyland Annual Passholders Hi XXXXX - If you renew your pass in person on a day your pass is blocked out, you may use the pass for entry that day.

If you want any answer regarding tickets, always ask to speak to someone at the Box Office.

Very good news. I didn't know about this. So if I renew my pass in the future, on a blockout day such as a Saturday for my So Cal pass, as long as I do it at the ticket booth I can get admission on that day...
Thanks!
This does make sense though since you get to use it on a blockout day for the first use anyway.
however, I may call ahead just to be certain since it is a few months away for me still.

Three weeks ago I renewed my son's pass and he got a blackout ticket to enter for the day even though it was a blocked day for him.
