The renewal discount is based on the pass you're buying, not on what you had the previous year. So if you buy premium you'll get $60 off. If you pay to park the day you upgrade, take the receipt, they'll give you credit. When you got a new AP card every year if you went up a level you would get the new benefits as soon as you renewed, even with a month left on your old pass. Because the new pass was active right away. Now with the evergreen AP cards people have reported that you stay at your old level until the new year starts. I specifically asked about this at the AP renewal event and no one knew the answer. In the end I stayed at the lower level, so I don't know what would happen if you went premium with a month left on a lower pass. But I did renew my pass on a block out day about a week before it was to expire and was able to go into the park that day. If you weren't planning to go before August you could just as easily renew online instead of going to the booth.
