AP rates & quality or location of room

If you get an annual pass do you have less of a chance of getting a good room or location? Do they give you what is left or do they honor your request as if you paid rack rates? Thanks for any info or opinion.

I have an ap rate at the polynesian concierge-garden view, but I could have picked the lagoon view room with no concierge with the ap discount. When ap's are offerred, there are just so many rooms available and first come, first get. I don't think that I was given any different treatment room wise because I had an ap discount. They still gave me the floor I wanted as well.

We had an AP rate last June for a standard room at AKL and were upgraded to savannah view upon check in without asking for it. We also had an AP rate in '98 for standard view at YC and were upgraded to waterview.

Do you get special privileges on where your room is located with an AP? No, you only get the rate you booked at. All room request are treated the same. Sometimes you get them, sometimes not.

It all depends on how busy the resort is and what room are going to be available on the day you check-in. Peak times less available rooms, less chance of getting request or upgrades.

Actually when we checked into AKL last June, she said that we were upgraded to a savannah view because the resort was full and they had no standard view rooms available, so it can work either way when the resort is full. However, there are no guarantees you'll get what you requested. With AKL, I didn't request anything, just basically a non-smoking room. It worked in our favor that time. I really didn't think we would be upgraded, but we were pleasantly surprised at check in.

do you mean do we get whats left? No not at all. I don't think the room assigner know how much you paid I think they get a sheet with whose coming when and for how long.

I used Priceline for a trip to Toronto last summer as was worried about be treated differently because I got it so cheap but that was not the case. I got a great room with a view and I know the people checking next to be paid rack rate of $172 american money and got a room down the hall. BTW I paid $38 per night includes tax .

So no I don't think people with a discount are treated any less.
