Just trying to lay out all our options for a family trip next June.

I plan to get an AP for myself. and I may be the only one with an AP that is going (also plan a solo trip. ;) )
But I have a couple questions.....

Is it posible to get a 2 bedroom villa at one of the DVC resorts using an AP discount? Anyone here able to do that??

and as long as I book under my name I can get the AP rate.... correct??

What type of discounts have been available for AP rates for a group of 8?
We are looking at the 2 bedroom villa... hopefully either BWV or OKW. OKW is much cheaper!!! So that might work out best for us. But with a really good discount, the family might opt for BWV.

side note.... I'm already checking into renting DVC pts. :) I've done that before and it worked out great.... just want to know all options. thanks!!

I am really interested in the information you get for this question! Looking at something similar, just in Oct.

Yes, just one person in the room needs to be an Annual Passholder, to book on AP rates

AP rates are usually room only rates. There's usually no further discounting with dining or tickets. For deluxe or deluxe villas the discount is usually 40% off.

I plugged in dates for October and came up with availability at Saratoga and OKW and the rates are coming up as 378 a night for 8 people in a 2 bedroom villa.

at least this gives me an idea! You must have plugged in late Oct with a rack rate of $630. I think for June 2012 rack is $715. So I'd be looking at $429 plus tx per night.

Thanks for the info!

You're welcome :cheer2:

Good luck with planning and have a great trip. You still have a bit of time till June.

Good to know that it's possible to get a discount on the 2BDR villa. We're planning to take my in-laws (first-timers) in Dec 2012, so a 2 BDR villa would be perfect for the 5 of us. I'm looking at BWV or BCV -- what is the likelihood that a discount will become available at some point on these?

I'm planning to book as soon as they come available. I'll pay rack rate if I have to, but a discount would be nice.

I did not see any 2 bdr villas available in the fall with ap discount. I booked a 1bdr villa and a studio at BWV with 40% off. 339.00 for the 1 bdr and 237.00 for the studio still cheaper than the 2bdr at rack rate. I'm sure they discount some 2 bdrs there may be some luck involved in getting one.

Keep in mind that AP rate are only released a few month prior to travel dates. That being said resort availability may be limited. OKW and SSR usually have the most availability and BWV is frequently full.
The best deal you will ever see is 40% off of any Deluxe Villa, could be less for busier time frames.

Here's the "current" AP rates. - quoted from Mousesavers.com

Stay dates: 6/3/11-8/13/11. Get a discount of 20%-35% off regular "Rack" rates. Pricing and percent off will vary by resort type and date. Use code QT9. Rates not available for all dates and resorts, but generally the discounts run as follows:

Save 20% at select Value Resorts
Save 20% at select Moderate Resorts
Save 30% at select Deluxe* Resorts

*Excludes Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort and Disney's Polynesian Resort for travel 6/3/11-8/13/11 and excludes Disney's Wilderness Lodge for travel 6/3/11-6/14/11, 2011.

Please note that if you would like the Dining Plan with these rates, there is a special Annual Passholders package.

Well, I'd certainly be just as happy with the 1 BDR + Studio, which is all a 2 BDR is. I don't really care if they are adjoining. Though I know the studios can be almost as hard to get.

I think i'll probably book a 2BDR as soon as it's available and then see what I can do with the discounts later in the year. Having something in hand that I can live with, is certainly better than the stress of waiting i'm doing now for the GP discounts. :surfweb: Next year i'll be able to afford rack rate; the Oct trip is a bonus on a shoe-string budget.

Thanks for the info. I don't have an AP right now but it's something i'll consider for next year, since we'll likely also go back in 2013. I wish I had bought it on our last trip, but we weren't expecting to go back this year at all. I got an unexpected signing bonus, so we're making a quick trip for F&W.

This is the 3rd time I have booked the bwv with at least 40% off. First was with gp 45% off. The second was with pin 40% off, and this time with Ap 40%off. This will be the first time I will actually stay there since I switched to the poly the previous 2 times. I have always found a lot of availability at BWV and not much at BCV. Between the two I think you will have a pretty good chance of getting the BWV at a discount. Btw the studios are actually the easiest to get. The 1 and 2 bdrs will sell out first.

BCV will sell out more quickly than BWV. I have a BCV reservation for next month that I booked back in January on a bounceback. When the AP rates came out recently, I tried to get BCV for December, but it was only available for half of my stay, so I went with BWV instead. So if you want BCV, you may have to book early and forego the discount (unless you can get one far ahead of time like I did), or try the point rental. If you don't mind BWV (and I like them almost equally) then you can probably wait for a discount to be announced first.

That's what I was thinking. We haven't stayed at BCV yet. Hoping to get BC this week for our Oct trip. But my inclination is not to have a preference except for the pool -- which we won't likely be using in Dec. So BWV it is. We love it. My in-laws will love it. It will be affordable and available, and, if I get a discount that will just be gravy on top. And apparently the boardwalk area does great Christmas decorations. That was an easy decision. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone! Now I just have to book a room for the 2011 trip so I can start thinking about 2012. ;)

I'm just curious why BCV will sell out faster?
especially since they have no lower priced "standard" like BWV and aren't there fewer rooms at BWV? :confused3

Beach Club has about 200 units vs Boardwalk that has closer to 400 units, so thats why BC sells out faster. I checked dates for Oct-Dec for the AP rates and for the random dates I picked, SSR and OKW always had availability for 2 bedrooms with Animal Kingdom and Bay Lake on some of the dates.

OH! I thought it was the other way around! :confused3
Totally makes sense now!;)
