I looked st the DLH rates for December and holy are they expensive! The DLH rate is $387 for a view room. :scared1:

I do have it booked, but for 7 nights it is super expensive IMO. Do you think they will lower the rates at all? I'm pretty set on staying there but I'm not sure if I can justify the price to DH. He thinks it is 'just a hotel room'.
In some ways I agree with him, but this will probably be the only time we go at Christmas.

Are you going early Dec or right at Christmas time? That will make a difference with rates. There might be some discount towards the beginning of the month, but I don't think you'll see anything close to Christmas.

Two things:

First of all, I have to agree with what amamax2 said - unless you are going early - mid December, you might not find any good AP rates (other than the standard 10% discount that's offered 365 days a year) in the second half of the month. Any really good discounts (AP or otherwise) usually end by the weekend right before Christmas.

Second - If you are going in early to mid-December and the good rates are not showing yet, it is possible they won't be released for a while. They have probably just not been put up yet. It used to be that the good AP rates were showing on the AP hotel calendar 3 months in advance. That still happens for certain months. However, DLR has also been known to, more recently, wait until much closer to the month in question to release AP rates. Case in point: last year, a bunch of us were waiting and waiting and waiting for the good October AP rates to show up....and they did not appear on the AP hotel calendar until almost mid-September!!!!:scared1: Because HalloweenTime had become so popular and the parks got very busy, I think they were waiting to see how many bookings they got at the regular, non-discounted rates before letting the AP holders have the good rates. Also, there were other discounts happening which ended in September, and maybe they wanted to let most of those cycle out before releasing the AP rates. Meanwhile, some of the folks who were waiting for the good rates had to end up making other arrangements because it took too long for the rates to come out!!

Since this is only September and December is a very busy month, it's possible that DLR is holding out to see how many bookings they get at the regular rack rates before releasing the AP rates, and letting some of the other discounts come closer to their end dates. So the good ones may not show up on the AP calendar for a while.

I hate to hijack your thread but can you do me a favor? Every since they changed to the new format i can't log in.. Premier passport does not work when adding it as my ap..so upset. I need rates for Oct. specifically oct 9, 10, 11, and 12th and PPH.

Standard PPH: 9th N/A, 10th and 11th 225.00, 12th N/A
View: 9th N/A, 10th and 11th 284.00, 12th N/A
Concierge: 9th N/A, 10th and 11th 315.00, 12th N/A

If you need other dates, just post again and I'll check back. That would be very frustrating not being able to log in.

Sorry pycees312, I just read this now or I would have checked.

We are going December 24-31st, so I guess the chances that they lower the rate is slim. I was *hoping* because they had great discounts this summer that maybe they would for Chritmas too.

Were the AP rates last year just the 10% off?

Nope. You won't get any good rates for that week - that is probably the busiest week of the entire year!

People get confused about the AP rates and discounts. When you have an AP (and I think it applies to any AP and not just Deluxe or Premium or Premier), you get a 10% hotel discount 365 days a year - even on Christmas or other holidays - with that AP. That's the 'AP discount.'

But, what we all want are the special 'AP rates' - they are usually called something like AP9, AP10, AP8 - something like that. Those are the good rates. Those are the rates that usually bring the DLH and the PPH down below the $200 mark. Sometimes the PPH can be as low as $139, sometimes it's $179 (depending on the time of year). But those good AP rates are unlikely to extend into the week between Christmas and New Year's.

But you should still be able to get the 10% discount - which is better than nothing!!

Since that is one of the busiest weeks, if not the busiest week, of the entire year at Disneyland, I would be surprised if they offered better AP rates than the 10% off.

I recieved a PIN yesterday from Disneyland for

25% off PPH ($188 a night)
27% off DLH ($205 a night)
32% off GC ($259 a night)

For now through 12-20-10 with 11/24-11/26 being blocked out.

I'm hoping that the AP special rates will be better for the beging of December so we can stay there. (if I can talk my family into going back for christmas :-) )

Anyone get a better rate for the being of Dec yet?

If you would have booked by the end of September, the standard discount for everyone was 30% off at PPH, 35% off at DLH, and 40% off at GCH.

The current promo (ends 12/16) is: 20% off PPH, 25% off DLH, and 30% off GCH so your pin gives you a little better rate than the current offer but not as good of a rate as you would have had, had you booked a room by last Thursday.

I don't think this worked correctly. It's what was said, but every time I tried to book at those rates before Sep 30, I still got the more expensive rates.

I remember looking at those rates too that had to be booked by end of September. They were the early fall discount. They had to be booked by the end of September but I thought they said they were only good for travel through the end of November and excluded Nov 24-27 or Nov 25-27.

Nope...I booked a room at the GCH from 12/8 to 12/12 at the the 40% off rate. It's now 30% off at the GCH until 12/16, but even 30% off is still pretty good.

Cool deal. Must have mis-remembered. I'm not going in December anyway. Just like looking and dreaming.

I just wanted to let any APer know that, I just changed a reservation that I made early in September from the DLH to the GC today and they gave me the GC at 40% So if you are planning on making a ressie and thought you missed out on the deal, give a call and see if you can get the deal, instead of the current calendar rate.
