Now that the AP rates are out, none of the rooms that I wanted are available.

We are going June 1st to June 10th.

My first choice was CR Tower, none available.
Second choice was WL, woodsview, none available.
Third choice POFQ/POR. none available.

I bought an AP for our trip last year, so that has already been paid for, but there is nothing available with an AP rate that I want.

Should I just go ahead a book a normal package with dining?

I know it goes against all of the great discount rates and everything that I have learned here from DIS, but I don't want to pay more for a room at the Poly or Boardwalk that I am not really interested in, just to get the AP discount.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Did you try splitting your stay (or would you be willing to)? The problem could be that your stay is so long and none of your choices are available for that whole time. I had to split our stay in January to stay at WL at AP rates, and then I stayed the rest at AKL.

Good Luck!

Jenna,

Don't give up too soon!

I know this won't be a popular way of looking at the AP program but I think that you will find a lot of people have "reserved" AP rooms and will probably not actually follow through with making the deposit or actually making the reservation. This has certainly been the case in the past. I realise that I'm probably in the minority here but this is why I thought the BRP was good in this respect. I say this because the discounts were available to actual AP holders/vouchers and there was a sacrifice (deposit) involved. Hopefully, most of the people that made their reservations in the past couple of days are AP holders or actually plan on being so but I know this has not been the case before, which is why I thought Disney went BRP last Fall. I understand how it was unpopular for many last minute visitors but, in your case you have a few months. My greatest hang-up with the AP program was the fact that folks get in a "frenzy" when these rates are released and book rooms they really have no intention of taking but, at the time seem to good to pass up. I think you'll find in a week or so many of the reserved rooms will fall back into the AP pool. Best of luck!

Cheers,

Schuey

Your stay is not more than 10 nts so that shouldn't be the problem. If you decide to go with a regular package call AAA. Pretty well the only place you can get a discount on a package so it will be less than disney direct. If you don't have a membership the savings are usually greater than the cost of buying one.

Another option for now would be to book the 10 nts as a AAA rate (don't need membership until check in). Wait for the next release of AP rates and try again. The last 7 nts could be changed to a seperate ressie at AP rate and then decide if the first 3 you will pay regular price for or keep at AAA rate and get a membership. If you can't get an AP rate for rest of stay at least you have a AAA rate.

Personally, since you already have the AP, i would look for another place to stay. Did you try CBR or CSR? What about AKL? Were there non-tower CR rooms? Those are in the same range as what you were looking for.

Also, just keep trying!!

Maggie

I called yesterday morning and was not able to get AKL with the AP rate for June 3 - 11, but did get POR for $119. Called back last night and was able to get AKL which was what I wanted for $149/standard view. The CM told me people are constantly calling in and changing, so keep calling or checking the website which is now running for AP rates. :thumbsup2

Definitely keep checking. Sometimes it might just be that one of your days isn't available, so as much as it's a pain, if you get a nice CM who can try different dates/ranges, you might get most if not all of your stay at AP rate.

Here's some pixie dust for you! :wizard:

When are the new AP rates good for? What dates do they start? :scratchin

The new rates are good for stays 4/23-6/3

It could very well be that a certain day isn't available in your time frame, or that there is a room available, but they're looking for a guest to have a longer/shorter stay. I've seen this happen a couple of tiems. I actually booked POFQ for 3 nights in October, but couldn't get it at first - but could get a 5 night stay! So, my TA booked the 5 nights for me, and then just called back later to drop the excess nights. I don't know that this is always guaranteed, but it worked for me.

Once the AP site is back up, maybe you can play with your dates and see what comes available. Or, get a TA to help you so you don't have to spend all that time on the phone with CRO. Good luck - I'm sure you'll get one of the resorts you want!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and words of encourgement! I am going to keep trying, so far all of the CM's that I have gotten have been very nice, lucky, I know! :goodvibes

Keep in mind not all offers include all room views. There is a possibility what view you want is not offered. :confused3 Keep trying. Or go with a different resort and/or view. :)

I just made ressies for next Jan. at WL and the rate was $249per night standard with 2 adults. This is pretty high for us but we have AP's. Do you mind if I ask what you paid per night with AP this year? I need amo for when I tell DH what I had to put down for a deposit. Thanks

I was wondering when the June 22 - 28 rates for AP will come out and how much they normally are? I went ahead and booked AAA but would like to be AP. thanks

Yooperfan - we paid $109 per night plus tax at the end of January for a standard room (actually had 2 rooms at that price). When we got there we were upgraded to a woods view with bunkbeds and we had connecting rooms. We were thrilled!

Last June we stayed at CSR for 10 days. When I tried to get the AP rate they said nothing was available too. I asked them which nights had the AP rate available the CM said all but 1. What I did is applied AP to 9 days and paid full price for one day you just have to split your ressie but that was not a big hassle. So check to see if a day is holding you up and see how much the full price would be before trying to move resorts.

My sister called for AP availability for Poly the day the codes were released...Nada :( I told her to try again today and much to our surprise -- they did have availability! So...I would just keep on trying!

Good luck!
