pirate: I'm semi-aware of how you can get AP rates on your hotel....reservation at hotel...wait for exact day of posting of AP rates....call hotel and hope they have that rate available for you. What I don't know is.....what are your chances of getting these AP rates, when do they post them(we're going Oct 31-Nov4,2004) and having ressies in two different months...is that two phone calls or one?
Thanks in advance for anyone's help

They usually group the AP rate releases by seasons (value, regular, peak). If your stay starts in one season, they will give you that rate for your entire stay even if it extends into the next season. That could be good or bad. If your stay starts in regular and ends in value, you would have regular rates for your entire stay unless you make 2 separate reservations. On the other hand, if it starts in value and ends in regular, you would have the value rate for your entire stay.

Your trip 10/31-11/4/2204 is right at the start of Value season
2004
Value Season is 1/1-2/11, 7/5-9/29, 10/31-12/19,

You will be able to make one reservation starting Oct 31 thru Nov 4 2004, You will want "room only" ressie and you can go ahead and make it now if you like, then wait until AP rates are announced (if they become avl) and have AP rate applied to your reservations. You will have to pay 1st night room rate when ressie is made then they will credit your room if less when you change to AP.::yes::

I thought the AP rates were for specific rooms at a resort and that's why there is a limited number. Once those rooms are sold, no more AP rate is offered. Please tell me I'm wrong!

Bbgrizzle , you are correct. There are so many rooms at certain resorts and when they are booked they are gone.

I'm not familiar with this AP thing. Can anyone just call up and ask for AP rates, or do you need to be part of some preferred club, or...? And if I have already made reservations, can I call to ask about AP and if they have them, switch it to the AP rate? ::MinnieMo

PURPLEBELLE

AP rates are special rates that Annual Pass members recieve during different times of the year. Anyone can buy an Annual Pass but you would need to see if it would be cost effective for you to purchase it for your stay....

We have a package res for YC Oct 29 thru Nov 6 2004. The only thing we have is a room (with mandatory mini golf thrown in). I plan on getting an AP and going with what rates I can get. I called CRO 3 times to make sure info was correct and they all said I could switch balance from package ressie over to AP ressie as long as I had paid with a check (we did). I don't understand why everyone is saying room only is better to book. If I'm not on the right track PLEASE let me know. Thanks! Beth

Mommo,

Historically, in most cases it's cheaper to book the components of your vacation seperately (room, tickets, etc.). This is particularly been true if you can get ahold of an AP discount or a room only discount code. Up until FTP was unveiled, you basically paid full prices for everything when you purchased a package via WDW. The only "savings" you got was only having to make one phone call to set up your Disney vacation.

However, after FTP was rolled out, Disney seems to be cutting back on the AP and room only discounts and starting to lean towards packages that contain actual discounts. When the AP rates for the latest season were announced, it seemed that most of the rooms were gone in a couple of hours after their release. Last year the AP rates for the Jan value season were released just before Halloween, so the next week will be telling.

Keep in mind that an AP does NOT guranteed. So even though CRO has told you that you can move your current rate to an AP that is only IF an AP rate is available at your hotel on the dates you want when you call. So you may or may not be able to switch and existing reservation to an AP rate if the rooms are not available.
