AP rate for Fort Wilderness Camping?

I was not able to get ap rates for our January trip. Rates come out about 2-3 months in advance. I think they do have their AAA rates now so you may want to go ahead and try to get that. You can always change it to an ap rate later IF they come available.

Has anyone ever gotten an AP rate for the Campground.

I am open ended on our plans as of right now, even as to whether we want to camp or just go moderate w/ AP rate. DH is not too thrilled with taking the camper all the way from PA. Plus we would have to take the Conversion Van to pull the camper and I can't do any of the driving with the camper on the back, so he would have to do all the driving.

Just putting out some feelers for some options.

Thanks.

We go to Disney World each summer and camp at Ft. Wilderness. We get an AP discount just about every year. We usually make a reservation at least 6 months before our trip and then switch it to the AP discount rate when they come out about 2 or 3 months before our trip. The discount for a preferred site is about 5% less than full rate, but the discount for full hookups is usually 10% or more. The AP discount rates fill up fast, so you need to jump when they become available.

I have camped at Ft. Wilderness every December for the last 4 years. December 2004 was the first year I did not get an AP Discount.

I did manage, however, to get a website discount for some of my nights.

Since about September 2004, folks have reported (including me), that getting any type of discount for the actual campsites was very difficult if not next to impossible.

The cabins seemed to have the usual number of discounts available.

Be prepared to call early and call often about discounts. Be prepared to make multiple reservations to get a few of your nights discounted. Be prepared to reserve more nights than you need to get a discount (then drop the extra nights a few days later).

I have not heard too many reports yet for January 05 and beyond, so don't know whether the discounts are this scarce for 2005 yet.

For April 2004 I was only able to snag the AAA discount. I called several times with RV show discount # and AP codes, but couldn't get anything cheaper for that busy New England Patriots Day vacation week.
