AP rate check-in

We are booked in Disneyland Hotel with AP rate. Currently we have only AP e-tickets, that we purchased on-line. Can we use these e-tickets to check-in the hotel or we need to go to the paks to activate our APs and only then we can check-in?

I reserved our APs through Disney by phone at the same time I made my room ressie for GC. I had to check-in first and pay for everything and it wasn't a problem. At check-in, they gave us the paper APs that I then had to exchange at the ticket booth before entering the park.
