AP rate, but no dinning?

I just booked the AKL with an AP rate, but was told I can no longer get the dinning package now.

Why are you not allowed to add the dinning to an AP room?

Is there any way to do it?

You can only get the dining package when you purchase a package that includes a rack-rate room and park tickets. Every person in your party staying in the same room must get the same package in order to book it. AP holders cannot book packages with park tickets unless they book a rack-rate room with the package and use the park tickets instead of the AP... and why do that in order to get the dining package?

The advantage for AP holders is that they may book rooms at a discount, and can subscribe to the Disney Dining Experience (DDE), which for a $50 fee for the year will get you 20% off your entire bill at most WDW full-service restaurants and some counter-service places at resorts that do not have full-service restaurants.

Actually, you can also get the MYW tkts and dining option with an email code room. It must be a new reservation - meaning if you already booked room only with a code you cannot change that reservation to a pkg. Deposit cannot be transfered either.

I've wondered if Disney will eventually offer anything to ap holders besides the dining discount. You have to pay for that one, but many say it does save about the same amount as the dining plan.

Nope, it's the same email/postcard code. I don't know if it will be the same with all the codes, but it was for the one in my profile. I asked and a Disney TA checked for me too. I've booked it three times that way now because I had to change the dates.

What makes it a pkg is the park tkts. You have to book the park tkts (which can be any number of days) to be able to add on the dining , but dining must be for all the nights you stay. It is a very different looking confirmation letter - I received my first confirmation letter yesterday and there was not one price mentioned, only the components of the package. Confusing!

Isn't that interesting because I was told I could add on the dining without adding the park tickets if I had hoppers left from last year. It seems like a lot of the cast members are not fully trained. Thanks for the info

No, I didn't add it on because I was still in the planning process. I had a code, and I was told that I could add the package. I told them I already had passes, and she said I could add the dining. I am going to call back, and see what another rep says. Will report back what I find out!

Here we go again!

They told me (all three at CRO) that once you book room only, you cannot "add on" any of the pkg components! Nor can you transfer the deposit. Said we'd have to make a new code reservation and add on the pkg components.

Have fun! At least you know when you're going! Ours seems to be in a state of constant change!
