AP Questions-The Logistics??

I have several questions related to the AP that I hope you can helpme with.

My four member family is visiting WDW Aug 11-18 and have booked a AAA discount at WL (4 nights-15%) and CSR (3 nights-20%).

1-- If AP discounts are announced for that period do I need to purchase the AP prior to booking the discount? (Mousesavers say no, and to wait until after you book, which seems counter-intuitive to me).

2-- Do I only need to buy one AP to cover the four of us in the family?

3-- How does purchasing Park tickets work for the other members of my family?

3-- Can I add the DDE to the AP? And, would the DDE cover all family members?

4-- What is the DDE discount on meals? I've seen 20%-30% posted.

5-- Maybe more Qs to come???

Thanks in advance for your assistance.:)

1. You can get a 'voucher' before you get there, or get an AP once you arrive. You can book a room with the AP discount without having one in hand. I have been told to return to the front desk and show them my AP later in the day, or else I could be charged rack rate for the room.

2. One AP will get you the discount on one room.

3. You would have to purchase park passes for anyone not having an AP. Either get the passes once you arrive, or you can buy them in advance.

3. (again) You have to buy the DDE (Disney Dining Experience) card. It costs about $60 for the card. It will get you 20% off most table service meals, and covers up to 10 in the party. The card holder has to be present when it is used though.
Perhaps you are confusing the DDE with the DDP? That would be the Disney Dining Plan..that costs about $37 pp, per day (adult rate). It can be added to rooms booked with an AP now.

4. 20%..I have had a DDE card for three years now. It is always 20%.

5. Maybe more answers to come!

you don't need an AP to make the reservation, but you will need it when you check in.

One adult AP for each room booked is necessary. (previously, you could book up to 3 rooms on one AP, but no longer)

Other family members will need MYW tickets.

Once you have an AP, you can purchase a DDE card which will give you 20% discount on food and drinks (alcoholic) for up to 6 in your party. It's good for a year--not tied to the expiration of your AP/

I had not heard this! So, I can add DDP to an AP discounted room-only ressie, without purchasing tickets? Without a bunch of analysis, is there a rule of thumb as to which is a better deal...DDE or DDP?
