I am thinking about going ahead and investing in at least one AP (for me). We currently have three days left on hoppers and I know that I can have those prorated onto my AP price to bring down the cost but also understand that that will back date my AP to the date those hoppers were first used. Since I won't have gotten any AP benefits for that trip (last week) I think I'd rather pay full price and just hold the voucher until I get there to activate it. DH could then just use the remaining days on his hopper and my hopper. The question is this:

If I have an AP voucher only will I be able to access the members only site at WDW.com?

Did that make sense? I guess what I really want to know is how will I find out about AP specials and codes in advance if I only have an unactivated voucher?

Please folks, I'm starting to get the shakes, it's been almost a week since we returned :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The backdating only happens when you upgrade within the first 7 days of use of the PH tickets. Once the 7 day window has passed, you will not be backdated because you cannot apply the entire amount you paid for the ticket to the AP anymore. You would only be able to apply a prorated dollar amount of unbused admissions remaining.

No you won't. Vouchers cannot access the web page, only activated passes can.

Just keep reading the DIS. Trust me, you'll know. ;)

so the AP will start when I activate, even if they pro rate down the remaining three days? Cool! I was tempted to go ahead and have the whole (new) 5 day one rolled over this past week but the code rates that I had got were sooo good (CV WL for $169+tax, GVsamoa Poly with volcano pool view for $244+tax) that the AP savings for them was not really offset by what I'd have to pay to upgrade. I'm already looking for spring break and late May (school gets out here like May 21) and the WL rack rates are ridiculous! Of course when I first booked last weeks trip I had 1st two days at AKL pool view then 2 nights WL CV at $290 per day+ tax :earseek: :earseek:

I went on and reserved them, I think AKL was like $149+tax, then DH said he'd rather not stay at AKL. I knew that we were doing the HP on Friday so I started scrambling, had a great CM at CR. By moving WL to Wed &TH she saved me over $100 per night! Ithen checked the Poly rates and decided to just do it for Fr & Sat because of the monorail convenience for the party. They applied my AKL deposit to WL, and my $300+ to Poly ressie. That made me owe just a little on WL (CM later asked me to go haead and pay that to insure my booking, first time that happened??) and gave me some credit for the Poly. We actually decided to go dow a day early booked POP then moved it to the WL CV at the same $169 rate. It all wokred out but I don't think I'll resort hop again though. The check in at the Poly was a bit of a hassle, due to my room request and housekeeping deciding to clean the carpet. Mark the Manager was really nice, comped our dinner. Thanks for the heads up.

Just to clarify -

Your AP year is going to start on the day you turn in the hopper pass to get credit for the AP. The only place you can apply a credit (or upgrade for that matter) is at WDW. WDW Guest Services and the ticket booths only sell/issue actual, activated passes - they do not sell vouchers there.

Best wishes -

I was aware of that , the CM's that I talked to explained that to me. I guess the main thing I was concerned about was finding out when the AP discounts came out. I'd like to book our next trip then be able to apply AP rate to the reservation if possible when codes came out. Probably looking at late May, figure it'll be less crowded than our Spring Break (April 1 2005). DD7 has an April Birthday, Mine is May, dD9 is in June, DH was last week. Can't think of a better present. My goal is to budget out $$ to purchase 1 AP a month. Then after the others have used up their remaining days on their PH's I'll activate their AP's. Try to stagger the renewal times for financial reasons. That's a chunk of change to shell out at one time:earseek:
