AP question

If we buy annual passes while my youngest is still 2, do we need to buy him a pass once he turns 3? I know when I've bought other passes, like the zoo, they say as long as he's two when we buy the passes, he's free the whole year. But, Disney passes are a little more than a zoo pass! We want to be honest and follow policy, so we won't lie about his age.

I just called and they do need a ticket/pass once they turn 3. I figured it was a longshot. Woulda been nice to save $600!

Yeah, if you're there for a week trip and they turn 3 you don't have to get a ticket for them, but it would be pretty crazy to get a whole year for free. You could buy the day before he turned 3 to get the full year.

That is the only time I wish DLR would do some sort of pro-rated AP...so that family's with AP could have everyone's AP expire at the same time instead of now having one AP with a different expiration date. I suppose this probably only affects a very small percentage of guests, so it's not economically worthwhile for DLR to implement something like that.

I've wished the same - our passes aren't up until June, but our daughter turned 3 in April, so now we have two different time frames. I wish there was a way to synchronize them.

On the plus side, I enjoy that we got the Signature pass photo downloads six weeks earlier than we would have waiting for our renewal...

Yes!! My son turned 3 after dh and I got our AP's. And now, our 2yr old won't be able to have the same pass as the rest of us when she turns 3! (SoCal passes). I really wish we could all be lumped together, after the fact.

My niece was able to get a SoCal pass because her parents had them. (This was just last June.)

Yes, we were able to do the same when our youngest turned 3.

I feel your pain. That's a lot of money, and one of the reasons we didn't go the AP route until everyone was over 3. One thing I really wish for is a better price on APs for kids. You know, maybe $20-50 off the main price. My 4 yo can't do Indy and Screamin' and many people have kids who aren't tall like mine so they can't even do many 40inch rides. They get cut a break on 1-5 day passes, but not on APs. What gives?

Yes, we were able to do the same when our youngest turned 3.

Oh that's so good to know!! I thought I had read it wasn't possible.

We had gone twice by the time DS turned 3, and we were so happy to buy him (and us) an AP! It was a thrilling moment, and I"m not being sarcastic; it truly was. This little dude was now 3, and old enough to need paid admission? So cool.

We were lucky in that he's tall, so there were more things he could ride than other 3 year olds.

But for every Indy he couldn't get ride, there were other things he enjoyed a whole lot more, or just in a different and awesome way, than we did.

The majority of rides don't have height requirements, and those were the ones he wanted to go on.

This was actually a selling point for us going ahead and getting APs this year. They expire a month before our youngest turns 3, so she'll get in the whole year with us for free.

We're in the same boat. We'll be getting 3 of us APs this summer, but our younger daughter won't turn 3 until Next January, so she'll be on a different cycle. I'm trying to think of it as a way to make staggered payments and not have to buy/renew all 4 at once
