AP question

HAs anyone in Aus got a AP purely for the discounts on hotels stays etc? Is it worth the extra cost above the 10 ticket aussies can get? Im not sure how much these are for adults and child but I guess about $400 for adult?
The AP is is deluxe for $499 and premium for $669.
Has it been worth it or once you pay the extra is the discount work out the same if that makes sense?
One person would get the AP the others just the normal aussie passes.

I know my sister (Aust) did that and tells me it was worth it. The discount on their room at PPH concierge level was, I think, worth about the difference bw the Premium pass and the 10 day hopper. Any other discount (dining and merchandise) was therefore a genuine saving for them. The cost of the premium pass has gone up since then, so I am still tossing up if I will do the same at Easter.

If you're just buying the AP for one member of the party it would probably be worth it. The discount is normally 10% of the pre-tax rate, so depends in how long you're staying for.

We would like to stay for a week. The Friday and Saturday night prices are so high though that unless we get a good deal then the current rates for our stay we would only do 5 nights in a Disney hotel then 2 maybe 3 at another cheaper one.

Heidispidi's sister here! Last year we stayed at PPH for 2 weeks and we had 2 AP's (originally only one but then decided it was easier for both adults to have one to access the discounts).

For us we did come out in front, however: we only had to get deluxe AP's, not premium, as there were no blackout dates during our trip. Also we bought them before the last price rise, I believe they are now at least $50 more expensive. And the AUD was higher.

Also you have to take the gamble that there will be a good AP hotel discount available at the time of your trip, which you might not know at the time of booking. I believe there is a standard 10% AP hotel discount, then at different times they have higher discounts. I think ours ended up being 30%.

Because we were there for a long time the 10% food and merchandise discounts were really good for us.

Another factor was that the 14 day passes were still available when we went, so I worked out the price difference based on this, plus 10% hotel discount, plus estimated food and merchandise savings. The extra hotel discount was a bonus.

It's pretty easy to do the sums and see if you'll come out ahead. Just make sure the standard 10% still applies (not sure if this has changed), and also check the expiry date on the merchandise discount as it's not guaranteed to be renewed each year. And if you decide to go with the AP's, buy them ASAP in case of any sneaky price increases.

We did that once when the rest of us had 14 day park hoppers. It was worth it then, and with 6 in our family the discounts for meals quickly added up.

This time we are staying for 15 days so we HAVE to get annual passes. We got 5 deluxe passes and one premium and I think we will only just start saving by using the larger discount.

We have purchased a premier passport for our trip in November. We have 4 days at DL and 14 at WDW so the price difference between park tickets for both along with all the park hopper and water park options wasn't too bad.

We also got a nice discount on our accommodation at Grand Californian but only a small one for 1 day of our WDW as we qualified for 6 days of free dining and you can not get both. The other days the discounted rooms went fast, we tried the day the discounts came out and missed out.

The discounts they speak of for the rooms is up to 35% for our resort but we only got 7.5% discount.

The other advantages we are looking at are the 20% discount on merchandise and dining and drinks. So we think we should be ahead if include those.

For an extra $100 we can also get Tables in Wonderland which expands the dining discounts in WDW.

End of the day you just need to do the sums.

There are separate APs for each, or there is one pass called the Premier Pass which does both (not that widely known/recognised at times, from what I've heard). That can only be purchased in person. I am planning to get one for me, and a TiW card, but it's still much cheaper for the rest of my family to get the 10 day WDW pass and the 10 day anzac DL ticket. We have 13 nights at WDW but will want some down time/resort time/DD time, so 10 days is plenty for parks.

Just wondering what you meant about the 6 days of free dining, was that a deal with the premier passport? or just the standard free dining offer they have?
