AP question

We are planning a last minute trip to WDW and are going to do 2 days at US/IOA, mainly because my DD loved the books. We are staying at POP, but going to book a night at an onsite Universal hotel to take advantage of express. I have found that I can get a significant discount with an AP so I am going to purchase one for my daughter (20) who is much more likely to return during the year. I assume we need the AP at checkin. Can we purchase the AP, and our tickets at the hotel? Or, should we purchase it online? I know that she will then be able to buy our tickets with a 10% discount. Any ideas on how to do this? All advice is sincerely appreciated. Thanks!

You cannot purchase theme park tickets at the AP discount until the AP is activated so you would not be able to do that at the hotel... you can only activate the AP at the gate. She can purchase the AP online but will still have to activate it before any discounts are enjoyed. Also...she will need to show an activated AP sometime during the stay so you can get the discount at the hotel.

Thanks! Plan to buy my daughter's AP online, and our tickets as well. We won't get the AP discount but found buying them online is cheaper anyways. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

You can book the AP rate online. Just put APH into the code box.

You then buy your AP somewhere; I bought mine online. When we checked in, I told them that I'd bought it and I had the printout. They were fine with that, and the AP rate was not a problem. in my own personal experience, the front desk person actually didn't ask me to show my AP later in the stay, but of course I would have had it!

And yes, we found that buying the tickets through undercovertourist was cheaper than full price at gates minus the AP discount.
