I'm sure this question has been asked before, but here it is again. If I buy AP's on Saturday, which is normally a blockout day, do I have to pay an additional $30 or can I use the passes that day? TIA for the answer.
You don't have to pay and you can go in because you have to go into the park to get your pass. They will give you a lil generic pass and you have to take it to the bank and get your picture taken.
You would not be able to use the AP unless you pay extra.
If you are buying the AP, why not buy a one day ticket and then upgrade that ticket to an AP before the end of the day. The value of the ticket would go towards the cost of the AP and thus you would not have to pay any extra charge.
I would call Disneyland and find out. We upgraded our passes on a Saturday and went in to the park to take our pics and they said to enjoy the rest of our day at the park. I did not have to pay the extra 30.00.

You can enter both parks on the day that you purchase an AP. It doesn't matter which type...we usually get the lowest priced So Cal pass. It's like getting a "free day" at DLR! We often do this when we renew our passes - buy our new passes and go in on a block out day. If the CMs at the turnstiles say you're blocked out, just have them look at the date on your AP. We also upgrade on a block out day.
We purchase our passes on line and have them sent to us. We also get one with parking. So we can show it the first day we go so we do not have to pay to park that day.
Saturdays are blocked out on my pass, but I activated it on a Saturday and did not have to pay any extra.
You just have to turn it into an annual pass at the 'bank' at DL. You can not get your AP at DCA.
The day you buy your AP at the DRL, even a lower AP with blockouts, you also get that full day inside both parks.
Also, if you paid to park the day you buy your Annual Pass, and if you are buying (P)arking on your AP, remember to take your parking receipt with you when buying your AP w/ parking... and get your $11 (or whatever you paid to park) back.
