Last year I purchased a PAP. When I go to renew it, does my "activation" date stay the same as my initial pass (IOW, anniversary to anniversary), or will the renewal pass be inactive until I physically go back to a park?

It will be the same as your original pass. We renewed our Seasonal passes last May but did not go down to WDW until November and were surprised to find that our expiration date was the same even though we had not gotten our actual passes until Nov. My DH was not very happy about that.

your renewal date stays the same....
wouldn't it be nice to pay renewal price and then not activate for a year....WDW doesn't think so! It makes no sense.
