Hi all!

Bought DVC this year and looking to go on three trips in 2014. I see that the AP's are discounted for DVC members and wondering if I buy one now, can it be used/activated in 2014? Our first trip is in January (then May, October) but I wasn't sure if it had to be used on a trip in 2013.

Thanks!

You can buy an exchange certificate that you will trade for an AP when you start your vacation.

The only one with the requirement to activate was the one time perk they offered last year from October 1 to Dec 31. $399 for the PAP, but it had to be activated by Dec 31, 2013. That was a really good deal.

Thanks...I've been reading that the DVC discount on the AP's might not happen next year and I'd like to take advantage of it if I can.

I have not heard rumours that they may discontinue the DVC discount for APs. The only chatter has been whether they would offer a discount on PAPs (premium annuals passes) again.

There is no such thing as a "DVC Discount" related to any Annual Passes (No matter what Member Services says).

There are two separate categories (or price ranges) of Annual Passes. The lower price range is for Florida Residents and for DVC Members. And the higher price range is "Tourist", which is people who do not qualify for either of the other categories.

And of the six possible DVC Member AP types, the price difference from Tourist ranges between $105 and $145.

Regular and Premium Annual Passes have the same privileges, no matter which price range they are in.

Last year there was a special promotional discount from the DVC/Resident pricing for DVC Members to purchase a PAP. And remaining sold vouchers (exchange certificates) are valid only through December 31 this year.

From the DVC Member Benefits webpage:

"Disney Vacation Club Members and their immediate family (living in the same household) are eligible to receive discounts on select new and renewed Walt Disney World Annual and Premium Annual Passes."

.....kinda sounds like a discount to me....

Apr/08: Offsite ~ Apr/09: Offsite ~ Apr/10: CR ~ Oct/10: Disney Paris Offsite ~ Apr/11: CR ~ Oct/11: CSR & POFQ (Purchased DVC ) ~ Jan/12: BLT & VWL ~ May/12: BLT & VWL ~ Oct/12: BLT & POR ~ Jan/13: SSR ~ May/13: VWL

It's a matter of semantics, a DVC AP is its own type of ticket rather than a discounted regular AP. There was an AP promo one time where there was an additional discount and members got the additional discount also because the member AP was not considered discounted already.

I couldn't get that price until I bought DVC this year so it sure feels like a discount
