AP question from a Disney newbie

I have bought over the phone Park Hopper Plus 5 days passes for my whole family (2 adults, 2 children) for a 6 day stay. I actually got a All Star Sports room with just 3 weeks notice till be go. Here's my problem and question. Teenager would like to take a friend. Disney says only 4 people in their rooms. Should I call Disney trying to get a moderate or deluxe room using an Annual Pass discount and then if I get one (and only then)can I call Disney and upgrade one of my Hopper Plus passes to an Annual Pass? Geez, what we do to keep teenagers happy!

I am not entirely sure how to answer your question, but I will try. If you want to add another person to your reservation, then you should look into Port Orleans Riverside (formerly Dixie Landings) if one of the children is under the age of 10. This moderate resort has room with a trundle bed available, but the trundle bed is not made to sleep anyone over 9 years old. You can also check the deluxe and home-away-from-home resorts for the AP Holder discout. Now for the fuzzy part of your question. If you ordered your passes over the phone and they were mailed to you, you will not be able to upgrade one of the passes over the phone. This can only be done in person at Guest Services at the parks or Downtown Disney.

If you pick the all stars why not get two rooms with a connection. The moderate Port orleans would give you the ability to sleep 5 but in a confined space. Why not get two all star rooms for about $25 more a night. Then you get two bathrooms as well and a little more moving around room.

I stayed at Coronado last month with 3 friends, we got 2 connecting rooms. It turned out great - it was like one huge room! We each had our own bed, plus 2 bathrooms!
