OK guys so here’s my problem: our current annual passes expire in May 2019. We are building a house in Florida that is projected to be ready June/July 2019. But anyone who has gone through new construction process knows that date is very flexible. So I’m trying to figure out whether I would be better off renewing our platinum pass at $677 with a start date of May 15, 2019 or if I should wait until our house in Florida is ready and buy a Florida resident platinum pass from shades of green for $763. Anyone have any opinions? TIA! Just for a little additional info- we are DVC members as well as military.

A lot would depend on when you expect to make your next visit. If it is within 2 months after your current expiration, then it makes sense to renew. If not, then let it expire and buy a new AP when you’re ready to visit.

We actually time our APs so that we almost never renew. We get a year of visits from them and then take a year off. But if you’re going to be living in FL, I could see going more often.

Good luck with your newly built home! Been there and it was stressful but so worth it in the end. Getting the exact house you want is wonderful. We’ve lived in this home for 24 years and I still love it!

Difficult choice Alicia. I'd be tempted to delay buying the new AP until you move down here. But, as @Marionnette says above some of it will depend on what your plans are during the period from May until when the house is actually ready plus when you think you will actually be here. Also keep in mind that when you do move in there will be lots of things to keep you busy at the house so finding time at first to hit a park might be harder than you think. As you are well aware, there are things you can do at Disney without going to a park - like hitting a nice restaurant at a resort or DS.

I guess I’ll wait and see... Mattamy- the builder says we’re scheduled to close on 5/24. No way that’s happening.:rolleyes1

If you can receive mail at that address you can prove residency really easy by getting some sort of free bank account and having mail sent there. Mail from government agencies also qualifies.
