I made it to the Disney Store last night at about 8:30 pm to order another AP before the price increase.
At first the manager said she had been told not to place any more special orders. I explained that I had good information that the new Annual Pass prices would not go into effect until 9/11 (ironic, eh?).
She phoned someone and confirmed that I was correct. I asked to see the price list, so she allowed me to browse through the binder all the stores keep with the SKUs for tickets and special offers.
The book was already updated with pages dated 9/8 and showed the new prices for the AP and PAP. The AP will go up about $40 and the PAP about $50.
When I pointed out that the book already had *tomorrow's* prices, she referred to her clipboard. I'm a fast reader and can read upside down LOL, so I noticed right away that the memo said the annuals could be ordered until 9/10. The memo also contains charts with the SKUs and prices for orders before and after 9/11.
I decided to buy two 6-day PHPs with my Disney Club discount at the *old* price of $278, and the manager agreed to place an order for a PAP at the current-until-9/11 DC price of $449 as shown in the chart. She almost used the *new* SKU until I pointed out the SKUs had changed.
My husband informed me first thing this am that the store had phoned to say that there would be an additional cost for taxes of about $26. I'm looking for my notes on the *old* Disney Club-discounted passes to confirm this is correct.
Now, like everyone else, I'm wishing I had upgraded my Park Hopper during my last trip. I did upgrade my daughter's PHP to a Premium Annual Pass because she will turn 10 in October.
At that time, I didn't think we'd be going back again in 2002, but I got great prices on a nonstop AA flight over the long Veteran's Day weekend and the following week.
Just blew my budget on this one! Have to spend money to save, don't you know. LOL
Thanks for reading this rambling note.
The gist is: The stores *should* be able to order Annual Passes at the old prices through Tuesday, September 10.
You may have to educate the Cast Member with all you've learned here and on Deb Wills's site about the price increases. Fortunately, the store manager was patient enough to study her memos and phone for confirmation. I'm sure she recognizes me as a frequent customer.
She and the other CM at the registers both exclaimed that Disney doesn't tell them anything and that it's pretty bad when customers have to come in and tell them what's going on.
