AP Passes - when does it become worth it to buy?

The break even point would be basically 11 days with park hopper option.
But the maximum ticket is 10 day ticket with park hopper would be $399.38, when you add one more day it puts it over the annual pass price of $425.00

If you bought 2 x 5 day tickets with park hopping (i.e. one 5 day ticket for your first trip, then another 5 day ticket for the second trip), that would cost $346.13 x 2 = $692.26. Well over the price of the AP.

Benefits of the AP, park hopping, 10% discount, various dining discounts, free parking, 1/2 price mini-golf, access to special release merchandise.

Downside to having an AP (if you can call it that) is that you may want to add spontaneous trips to Disney during the year to get more out of your AP. Not necessarily a bad thing, just more money on travel expenses. :drive:

We now have all bases covered - we have AP vouchers, 10 day no expire and 5 day MYW tics locked away in the safe deposit box for trip planning through 2018.

This year we are using our DVC PAP - 28 days total at WDW. We are finding we are not doing parks every day anymore, but the overall savings is still there using an AP. Our trip last week we stayed off-property at WBC, so the AP saved us on parking at the parks, an added plus.

So you can hold the AP vouchers or MYW tickets for several years before activating and not need to worry about anything expiring?

We just started planning a 12/31-1/7 trip this year and will also be going back summer 2014. The difference between a 7-day park hopper and DVC AP is like $50 or so. No brainer there. So this trip we are using all available points = lodging paid for but will have to fork up the money for APs. Summer trip = tickets paid for (APs) but will have to fork up money for lodging. Better than paying for both - both trips!! We won't do water parks for the winter trip and if we decide to do a water park on next summer's trip, still coming out ahead if we just buy 1-day water park tickets.

AND if DH and I can squeeze in an adult trip in the fall of 2014 for Food & Wine, we are set for park tickets!
