Given my scenario, is an AP worth it?

I go (in a perfect world) twice a year for Sun-Friday stays. I would need the Park Hopper option for 5-6 days each trip. Or, in this case, is an AP worth it?

We own at SSR, I bought 10 day (no-expiry) park hoppers for the rest of my family. I am planning on returning to WDW at least one more time before it expires. I was able to save some money with the DDE card this time and will have it on my next trip too.

I think it's worth it if you are going to make more than 1 trip per year.

if you are definately going for 2 trips and will be in the parks all the days, even the day you get there and they day you leave, (you say you are going sun - fri 6 days each trip) then yes, but with a 10 day MYW with no expiration, what if you don't go to the parks every day?? You will have days left for your next trip.

I am in the process of trying to make the same decision!! I think I will probably end up getting the AP, for DDE purposes, and also in case I decide to make another last minute trip (which I sometimes do based on SW Dingfares) in the same year!

With the discount currently running on AP's for DVC members, it was a no brainer for us to get the AP's. We usually go twice a year for 8 to 10 days each time. This year, we'll be at WDW for 5 days in January along with a 7 day cruise. We're planning to go back for 10 days next December. I've already got the exchange certificates for AP's sitting here ready to be packed. Also ordered the DDE card last week so it will hopefully get here before we leave.

Just a side note: We have had AP's on and off for the past 15 plus years. We usually buy them, then return 11 months later before they expire. We go through the whole process again a year later. We never renew the AP's just use them for the year and then let a year go by in between before getting new ones. We like the flexibility of the AP. We like to park hop and sometimes do so very impulsively. AP's have been great for us over the years, and getting a discount on it is even better! ::MinnieMo

IIRC, the break-even point for APs used to be around 8 days or so. Now that there's a DVC discount, it must be even lower, so your 10-12 days a year scream out for an AP!

We do APs and buy them every other year. We like to travel in January or December, so even when we can only go once a year, we can still get two annual trips by skewing the date by a week. I state that as the way we "used" to do it. Now we still buy our APs every other year, but tend to visit WDW 3 times in those 365 days. This time, we are activating our APs Dec. 31 and we will use them daily for this trip that goes through Jan. 10. Then we will use them in March for a 5 day trip (gotta go to spring triaining) and plan another trip for early December 2006. After that, we will wait until January of 2008 to buy new APs and start the process over again.
